Amare/Baron/Mayo for Wade/Boozer/Ginobili

Post#1 » by Anatomize » Tue Nov 24, 2009 3:51 pm

Rank wise in Yahoo! Baron - 18th, Amare 75th - which will come down significantly I expect, Mayo - 60th

Wade - 13th , Boozer 28th, Ginobili 125

I have Baron/Amare/Mayo, my question is, is this a sell low on Amare? Does Boozer continue shooting FT at a 83% FT clip and Amare continue at a 70% + clip? (it seems more likely both of these will turn). I like Boozer's rebounding and don't expect Baron to continue getting so many blocks out of the PG position. I don't lose assists since Boozer averages nearly 3 a game to add onto Wade's 5 (career 6.6), I gain rebounds, points, consistent FT on high attempts, steals are equal and gain FG (Davis's FG kills my team many nights).

I also have noticed that Stoudemire's usage rate has gone down with the exception of last game, this year, he's also down to 12 FGA compared to when he was the focal point of the Suns offense, under D'antoni he averaged 15 FGA; watching Suns games. It seems Amare is being treated as a 2nd/3rd scoring option.

I figure by slipping in Mayo for Ginobili I can pull this trade off since Gino is currently injured but should be back in half a week.

Is this a good trade for me?

Yup, it's a good trade for you. It's a no-brainer.

You question if you are selling Amare low, when you didn't question if you're buying Ginobili and Dwade at a very low price. :D

I think Amare's value should stay that way. I mean, they are already winning with that kind of effort from him. There is no need for him to step up.

And with Boozer, I think he's going to play well this season. Let's not forget that this is a guy who is willing to sell his soul for $$ and next year he is looking for his big payday, thus he is playing like his life is on the line this season.

For me Baron is a very overrated fantasy player. He gives you a lot of negative stats and when Blake Griffin returns, I think we are going to see a significant drop with Baron and Kaman's numbers.

And lastly, Dwade is a top 5 fantasy player at the end of the day. So you get the best player in the deal.

Hope it helps. :D

It helps, and it goes along with the same sentiments I've received from most.

Though I do disagree with what you said in regards to Baron. My team is already tanking FG, why is why I'm looking to ship out Amare (Nene/Horford/Ilyasova are my other bigs). Baron is near the top of the league in total assists, has 31 steals, gives close to 1.5 3's per and can have some big scoring outputs (evidenced by 3 straight 20+ games); his last game was a dud, but he's still ranked in the top 20. Most guards aside from Calderon nowadays are poor in turnovers anyway, and since Baron is shooting high FT this season, only his FG impacts your team poorly (but not if you're tanking FG! I'm guard heavy).

Gino more or less won't be higher in value seeing as how last year in around 26 min per he put up 15/3/4 (and is doing the same this year in the same amount of minutes). Though the reason I want to 'buy low' on Gino is because I believe this year more than ever SA will be fighting for a playoff spot and thus won't be resting starters for the playoffs.

Of course, any time you're getting a top stud like Wade in the deal, there is tremendous upside. I figure since right now Baron's stats look very equivalent to Wade's in the gamelog, it is a good opportunity for me to do this trade.
