Caron Butler trade?

Post#1 » by wadero » Mon Nov 23, 2009 10:03 pm

Would we trade Scola Battier and Dorsey for Nick Young and Caron Butler? Works in trade checker and saw it on a trade thread. Just wanted everyones thoughts.

I probably wouldn't do it. We have Ariza, and Budinger as our future SF's. Neither might be as good as Butler, but it's still a position we're not lacking depth in. Scola gives us that versatility to play Hayes and C, and the PF rotation right now is the reason we're winning, along with the intangibles. Battier is struggling, but we're hoping he can come around, since even at this point, his value is relatively high.

And for the Wizards, I'm not sure either. They have Jamison locked up, Blatche playing well off the bench, and guys like Haywood, and McGee developing. Scola probably wouldn't be in their long term plans, and he'd leave as a FA. Not to mention, with the Wizards inability to win, they might even prefer the more talented - younger Young to Battier for long term reasons. But that's kinda iffy, since Young still hasn't shown the consistency in his game yet.

We tried last year to pack McGrady for Butler, but Washington refused that offer.

If things go as bad as it can for both sides- McGrady feuding + Butler and Wizards doing miserable- then this is certainly a possibility.

Right, but had Minnesota not offered Foye + Miller, Washington was going to trade #5 for Battier and more. They value him tremendously, as thier defensive statistics have shown.

McGrady, Brooks and Dorsey to Washington for Arenas, Blatche and Crittenton

Rockets
F: Battier/Budinger
F: Scola/Landry/Cook
C: Hayes/Blatche/Andersen/Yao
G: Arenas/Lowry/Crittenton
G: Ariza/Taylor

Wizards
F: Butler/Miller
F: Jamison/Dorsey
C: Haywood/McGee/Oberto
G: Brooks/Foye
G: McGrady/Stevenson/Young

Yeah Arenas has missed most of the last 3 seasons and his contract sucks but we get rid of Tmac and get 2 promising young players in Blatche and Crittenton and if he can stay healthy Arenas is better than Brooks.

Lol @ T-mac for Arenas trading something broken for something almost as broken. Anyways Arenas is a chucker and I know T-mac might end up doing the same, but lets see first :)
