I don't want to trade with NYC, but we better be getting Chandler in any deal.

That's not what the OP said though:

I'm not giving up on this season at all. I think this makes us a better team right now and at the same time it makes our future much more promising.

Oh okay, well yeah then your post, I agree with. But like you said, I'm definitely not ready to call it a season, not even close.

Chandler is a fine player but nothing special. Curry is a done. Jeffries is done.
Last year, Shelden Williams was probably considered worse than both Curry and Jeffries and now he looks like one of the most improved players in the league. My theory is the C's coaching staff can make anyone, even you, a better basketball player. Both Curry and Jeffries have this year and next on their contracts - not bad and we could buy-out Curry I'm guessing. Curry might be done but you can't say the same for Jeffries. He's a lock down defender at the 3 on a good team and played very well for WAS a few years ago. He's the Posey-type we're lacking.
Gallinari isn't too appealing IMO but Chandler is a special player. The best players Chandler's played with is David Lee and Stephon Marbury - not saying much - and for that reason he's often double teamed because he's the best player on the floor. On the Celts he would have a lot of open looks from Rondo and rarely get double teamed because of Pierce, KG and Perk. Surrounded by great defenders, versatile offensive players like Chandler perform extremely well so I still think it's a good trade. I don't see how the combo. of Chandler and Jeffries is a downgrade from Ray Allen at this point in his career. This year, it's an even trade and next year, this looks like a great trade.
It's not that Allen deserves to be traded, it's that the Celtics are not playing like a championship team and trading Allen's expiring contract is the C's best opportunity at getting better long-term while remaining about equally competitive this year. And if the C's don't take back the other 2 contracts, another team will.

Here is what I would do:
1 Trade Ray Allen for Curry and Milicic.
2. Sign AI and start him.

Did I just read a thread about the Boston Celtics acquiring Eddy Curry and Jared Jefferies and the return was not every resident in the Commonwealth getting free health care or night alone with Beyonce?

1) Chandler is NOT a special player. At least not in the NBA. He is a mediocre wing. Knicks fans don't even think he is special. Perhaps at your Y had be special but not in the NBA.
2) Larry Bird and Kevin McHale had productive years too but if they were to join the Celtics today they would not help Boston win any games. Curry and Jeffries are done. Put a fork in 'em.
3) If Tony Allen is traded it will be to bring in an All-Star calliber player, not Eddy Curry or Wilson Chandler.
4) Gallinari has more upside and brings unique characteristics that Chandler does not. But Ray is not being traded for Gallinari either.

Jeffries is done...really? It feels weird defending a Knicks player but he's pretty good. You're completely off on that one. Curry - probably.
Chandler is a special player/potential 20 per night scorer. It depends on your definition of the word. If Chandler was on the C's, playing alongside Rondo, he would be the next Caron Butler.
*Ray
Not so sure about Galinari. He looks like a smaller version of Nocioni.

Can't understand how some people think adding Eddy Curry and Jared Jefferies to the Celtics actually improves the team. Even if the Celtics got both for nothing.

Re: Any way to work a deal sending Ray to the Knicks?
IF this team is clearly on the decline in a couple of months:
I'd be more interested in the Knicks' draft pick, which is bored to tears in Salt Lake City - Ray and expirings for Kirilenko/Okur/Knicks' pick - Utah rebuilds with Williams, Millsap and about 20 million in cap room; We get two dimes for a quarter and the draft pick - could, depending on how that roster gels, be just as good in the short-term.

You have to take salary into the picture as well. Pierce could accept less money, but the team salary will still likely be high. Unless they change ownership and billionaires are running the team, I would expect the Celtics would have to get some expirings back in a trade. I can't imagine any trade with the Knicks happening, but I could be wrong.
