Why Would Nets do this?
-We get an All-Star Caliber Player
-We still have enough room to sign a max contract in 2010
-We didn't give up our Lottery pick
-We didn't risk everything in 2010
2010 Line up
Harris/Wall?!/Dooling
Lee/CDR
Butler/T-Will
Bosh?!/Yi
Lopez/NJN 2nd Round Pick
Why Would Wizards even consider this?
-They are still not winning even with the talent they have
-"Caron is not fitting in with the team" Arenas said.
-They can sign a max contract in 2010
-This is the fatest way they can rebuild their team
-Picks
2010 Line up
Arenas/Wall?!?
Young/Mav's Pick
Lebron??!?/
Jamison/Blatche
Mcgee/2nd pick
Why would Jazz do this:
-They are in a win now mentality and Najera and Stevenson can help
-They get a second round pick
-They didn't give up anything since Harping is injured and will retire by next year
2010 line up;
Williams/Price/Maynor
Brewer/Stevenson/Matthews
Kirilenko/Miles
Millsap/Najera
Okur/Koufus

A) Washington would not have even close to max contract money after that deal.
B) Utah never, ever, ever, even thinks about this. Ever.

Re: Elaborate Plan that might work
Washington is about 16-17 mill cap free after that trade
Why won't the Jazz do this trade when they aren't loosing anything. Their total salary next year is 57 mill they will just be over the cap space so they cannot do much of anything in the FA except for an MLE. Matt Harping is already thinking of retiring so its not like he will be some kind of loss for the Jazz. They are also getting 30-35 pick in the second round which is basically a late first round pick.

Your salary figure does not account for resigning Ronnie Brewer and/or doing a s&t deal for Boozer that brings in some talent. Taking on Stevenson/Najera along with an extension for Brewer likely means they go into the luxury tax.
A pick in the 30-35 range is nice, but it comes at the cost of nearly $10 million in worthless contracts for 2010/11 and 2011/12 (and that's before any luxury tax implications). In a league where picks in the early-to-mid 2nd round can be purchased for $3 million (Houston did this last June), it clearly is a massive overpay by Utah.

Re: Elaborate Plan that might work
^^Yup.
Plus his figures for Washington are off, they would not be that far under the cap after that trade when you include capholds and signed players.

If you want Butler then we could offer T. Will/Dallas 1st/expirings for Butler straight up no need to involve Utah.
I wouldn't do it because next year Butler will be 30 and we're a couple of years away from being good IMO unless we sign a superstar this offseason which I have my doubts about.
