I know it's only been a year, but is it to early to judge the trade Martin Mayhew did to send Roy Williams to Dallas for 3 draft picks?
Roy Williams was going to be a FA and made it known he wanted to go home to Dallas. Yet, Dallas traded a 1st, 3rd and 6th round pick in the 2009 draft to obtain a guy they would have gotten anyway.
Those picks became:
1st (#20)- Brandon Pettigrew, TE
3rd (#82)- Derrick Williams, WR
6th (#192)- Aaron Brown, RB
Pettigrew has shown to be a very good blocker and an improving receiving option. Aaron Brown has been impressive not only as a RB but also a return specialist. Derrick Williams hasn't made his mark yet, but he still has upside.
Did the Lions actually win a trade, and by a wide margin?

Re: To early to judge?
It's obvious they won the trade. No way Roy was going to stick around in Detroit when he becomes a FA... so we got 3 future players for a problem that didn't wanna be here to begin with.
2009 stats
Brandon Pettigrew- 29 receptions, 334 yards, 2 TD's
Roy Williams- 24 receptions, 429 yards, 3 TD's
Considering that Pettigrew has also been a huge upgrade on the offensive line, we won on the deal with just that 1st round pick.

Win the trade? We destroyed on the trade
We got a legit young TE, a backup RB and a possible WR3 for a guy who was underachieving, unhappy and leaving the first chance he got. It was a robbery on our part
