How Does This Deal Not Happen Today?
The Bulls come into Salt Lake tomorrow. They leave with Carlos Boozer and leave behind Brad Miller and their first round draft pick for next season. Jazz make about a million in savings on cap and lux tax. Jazz get rid of PF logjam and free them to use a combo of Millsap and Kirilenko at the 4. Miller provides a solid center option for this season and expires. Can there be a downside to this deal for either team?

Yes....Miller sucks.
He is Memo Lite, and Memo is lite to begin with.

Another Boozer trade suggestion......... You're gonna find out in short order, he's not the problem on this ball club. If everyone produced at their position at the level he does, there'd be no worries.
Williams dominates the shot clock dribbling enough for five point guards, Okur at 6'11" can't average over 14 points and 6 RBDS to save his ass, and Kirilenko and Brewer can't shoot
You go ahead and get rid of Boozer tomorrow you knucklehead, then show me what you've got left!

Whoa ... Booz is gone in just a few tomorrows anyway. And if he's half as bad as most Jazz fans suggest, the Bulls draft pick will be a pretty high one!

How about if Bulls trade Kirk Hinrich + Tyrus Thomas to Jazz for Boozer + Eric Maynor???
The only way we would do this deal if Boozer agrees to sign an extension with Bulls though.
What do you think guys???

This deal doesn't happen because it isn't a good deal. Boozer is playing really well right now, and like others have mentioned, b miller is like Okur. Nothing like having two soft centers

Re: How Does This Deal Not Happen Today?
Yeah, that's exactly how it doesn't happen. Its like lying over a barrel and spreading your cheeks.
The only sensible deal I can think of right now, for both teams, is for Boozer to head to Sacto for Kevin Martin.
In any deal where we're sending Boozer we need to get 1 of the following:
1) a really good, near elite, player on a decent contract signed long term (and given the roster composition right now, it would have to be either a defensive big guy with legit size or a sweet shooting wing)
2) at least one HIGH QUALITY draft pick (guaranteed to be in lottery with a chance of top 5)
3) a young player who is still on his rookie contract for at least two years and has a lot of REASONABLE upside to him.
In the last two scenarios we'd have to get expiring contracts as well to satisfy the needs of the cap rules.
So let's look at the OP's proposed deal:
Kirk Hinrich, Miller, future 1st
for
Boozer, Maynor, filler (Harp, CJ and/or Ronnie P)
1) no good or near elite players on reasonable contracts. In fact, Hinrich has a horrid contract getting over 10m a season for the next 3 seasons after this and he is a combo guard who isn't that good of a shooter, while Miller is nearly roadkill who doesn't rebound very well, can't move his feet, hold position in the paint, or protect the rim.
2) future 1st that is likely to land in the late teens, but given the fact that we are gifting them a player that will solve their biggest need--paint scoring--more likely will land in the 22-26 range. In other words, we're looking at getting a player in the mold of one of the following: Morris Almond, Shannon Brown, Kyle Lowry, Donte Green or George Hill......George Hill is the upside here.
3) No young player involved, let alone one with any upside. In fact, we're trading away our 1st rounder this year, who looks like a solid starter down the road, to get two guys who have almost no significant futures with their current team.
So, to recap, we are getting none of the things we need, and giving up a 20/10 machine who is among the most dominant interior scorers in the game in return.
Any questions?

Re: How Does This Deal Not Happen Today?
I'm not undrstanding this. Sixty some games of Boozer traded for a first round draft pick. How does that not work fo the Jazz? And some money saved to boot.
And the Kevin Martin thing ... exactly how does the Jazz payroll for next year handle that outlay?
Remember, Jazz cannot add to the payroll and is looking at getting zippo for Boozer when the season ends.

What is so hard to understand about that?
As for accomodating Martin's payroll next year, we would likely be somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-4m over the tax next season, depending on Brewer and the salary of the NYK pick, with AK coming off the books the following season. We'd be able to make it work in exchange for retaining the actual basketball value that Boozer provides.
And while the Jazz cannot add payroll, they COULD facilitate a sign and trade. While there are quite a few teams who have a lot of cap room, there are also guys like LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Kobe, Amare and even Yao that could be on the market and will get attention before Boozer does. If Boozer wants the kind of $$$ he is looking for, he will likely have to find a team willing to do the S&T anyway. If he gives up on that dream and accepts something in the 11-13m a year range, the Jazz would probably be willing to talk about re-signing him. In any event, the Jazz still have a lot of leverage in the situation, and any team who is looking for an ultra talented scoring big man will and should be willing to give up handsome compensation to get him.

I would look at chicago deal, but you have to remove maynor from it. And even after that I don't think it would work for us. I'll better leave it as it.

^^^ Exactly!!!! Why aren't there more sensible people like this?! I've been saying this since the playoffs. The Jazz need a player like Caron and the Wiz need a player that'll get along with Agent Zero. Booz is a follower. Exactly what each team needs. This is the trade I'd put my money on.

Re: How Does This Deal Not Happen Today?
According to what have read, the luxury tax will kick in at about $65 million next season. The Jazz payroll is at over $57 million for next season for just eight players that don't include Brewer. A high first rounder wll cost about $5 million and the regular Utah pick will cost a couple million to sign as well. As I see it, there is no way Brewer re-signs and the Jazz are looking at basically the same team minus Booze, Korver and Brewer for next season.

You want Butler??....What for??......Even Gilbert doesn't want him. He jacks up 16 shots per game, only shoots 40% from the field....... at 29% from 3pt land he's as bad as DWill and he doesn't do anything else.
You people preaching get rid of Boozer are CERTIFIABLY NUTS!!

That trade doesn't work under the CBA.
