As for the guy that mentioned the Rockets paid money to aquire 2nd round picks I know. Just because you GM/owner are willing to spend doesnt mean they will piss away money or turn their noses at a chance to save $8mm
If the Rockets owner is willing to gamble $6 million on 2nd picks with the hope to improve the team, why would he value much to save $8 million that make the team worse? Adding Curry remove the cap flexibility for the rockets to improve while Curry is sitting on the bench collecting pay check.

Like I said, what has McGrady done of late that suggests he's worth one of those players + expirings? You guys assume that you're trading away the old McGrady of the Orlando years. But in actuality, you're trading away a 30 year old, injury ridden player who has been out of basketball for almost a year. Come on now....
Someone in this thread ask why the Rockets would trade away McGrady for expirings when McGrady is an expiring himself. It's simple. A guy like McGrady could be a distraction given that the team doesn't want him nor interested in playing him. It's a good idea to get something for him rather than let him walk after the season.
Aren't you aware that Rockets do get something by letting walk after this season? Rockets gain some cap flexibility and cap room. This is Tmac's contract year, the rockets will play him when he is ready and Tmac will show his best side to attract new deals. Not really big distraction. Anyway the rockets won't trade their cap flexibility just to remove minor distraction and the rocket management has always focus on the long term success.

No way they trade you Hughes or Harrington who are good rotation guys AND save the Rockets $12-$15mm in cap/luxury/insurance savings this year without getting a pick back. There is no reason, not for McGrady who your GM/coach doesnt want anyway and hasnt played for a year. Its just dont realistic. Knicks will just keep Mobley and buy pick(s) like they did last year.
Please read the sources of news that get this trade talks started. It is the Knicks that is asking the Rockets on possibility to trade for Tmac not Rocket initiating the rumours. So who is more eager to trade?
You said Knick won't give what Rocket GM want (expiring contracts for expiring contracts) then you should agree that the possibility of trade between Rockets and Knicks is very low and stop coming here to propose trade!

Re: Trade idea: Tracy McGrady to the Knicks
We do not NEED to trade McGrady, and certainly not just to make cap room for the Knicks. We get cap room if we let him expire; he's in his contract year, and he's not going to risk things. He wants to play to prove his worth for a new contract, so he will contribute to our team once he gets back on the court. Morey has stated multiple times that he is not looking to move McGrady, and will only make a trade if he gets an appealing proposal. Read that, appealing. Whatever you Knick fans may think, WE hold all the cards on McGrady. Every source out there state that the Knicks are trying to ask the Rockets about McGrady, and every time it's Knicks fans coming here posting trades, not the other way around.
You're not going to get McGrady unless you give us what we want. And what we want is not to save money. What little luxury tax we pay is compensated by insurance on Yao and McGrady. We are looking to improve our team, which means young players with potential or good picks. And since Knicks don't have their first round pick next year, we want Gallinari. That's what we want from the Knicks. Take it or leave it. The likes of Darko, Curry, Harrington or David Lee aren't going to help us much if at all, and not worth killing cap flexibility over. If you don't like it, stop coming to our boards and posting trades!
At the end of the day, if no trade goes down, the Rockets still have a former superstar who will play his butt off on his contract year, and about 10M in cap space at the end of the year, while the Knicks still have a ton of horrible contracts and not enough room for 2 max FA.

Huh, a player needs to be out at least 1 yr before insurance can kick in. McGrady last played 2/9/2009 and is about to come back. Thus no insurance on him. Ming 5/8/2009, no insurance on him this year either.
Mobley last played 11/19/2008, believe he is eligible now or in a few weeks depends on when the Knicks filed.

King 30,
The Rockets have been collecting insurance on McGrady since last yr.
After missing 41 games, teams can start collecting.
W/Mobley the Knicks are trying to get the League to take his contract off their books via medical retirement.
Of course if your GM was not a greedy idiot he would have unloaded Randolph on the Clips or Grizz two yrs ago w/out having to take anybody back.
