Where are the Marvin Williams' threads?

I missed the game, so I figured someone else who saw the game would comment.

Nothing .... nada .... zilch. 29 points, leads the team in rebounds (9), shot highly effectively (13 for 19), his man scored only a little ... and, yet, nothing.

What happened? Did the Rockets lay down and give him EASY baskets, so no one is impressed? Was it all just a scorer's error and he really didn't put this team on his back?

I look around and see so many posts about how Marvelous "sucks" or "stinks" but what's he got to do to get a little LOVE?

There were some comments in the game thread. Before the game they were saying that Marvin has been putting in extra work on his shot and it definitely paid off. He got off to a very hot start with 20 in the first half and hit some key baskets in the 2nd half. He had one late follow up dunk that was huge.

lol, i was actually going to make a thread earlier this week about what the hell happened to marvin. before the rockets game, the dude couldnt even inbound the ball. put him in the game and he was the worst player on the floor out of all 10 guys.

then he all of a sudden comes to life. looked alot more aggressive too. at first i thought they were just feedign him shots cuz he was hot, but alot of the times he was getting the ball was after ballhog joe dribble out the clock and dumped it off to marvin with no time left(which is how joe gets all of his assist normally)

What d you want us to say? He played one good game. That in no way means that he is back. Im happy for him and I hope he continues playing good.

^TWO good games - in a row - because Bibby was out. Face it, the hate against Marvelous is misguided. He's simply left out UNLESS we have a player having trouble (Joe last night) or out with foul trouble (Smoove last night).

In Woodson's offense, ya go get the ball and dribble-out your own shot. Or assist.

Marvelous, Horford and even Smoove need to be fed. Smoove is a special case because he does go out and get the ball, but he'd benefit from a few well-placed assists. The 3 of them should be scoring 20 more points a game (60 total compared to the about 40 per game they now score) if they were used right.

And Joe would score more points (and much more effectively) as a Reggie Miller-type of assisted shooter.

I think it'd be a huge mistake to think Woodson's iso offense is making the difference for us right now. The great improvement we've seen (I believe) is due to the growth of Smoove and Horford. Joe's not playing better than he did last year. Bibby's not playing better. Crawford IS, but he's not worlds better than what Flip gave us. Smoove and Horford are the reason.

So feed the front line.

If you are going to use "at the time"..then no way in hell is Marvin the 2nd worst decision of the last 25 years. Milwaukee didn't consider taking Paul at 1 and Portland traded down when it was clear that Paul would be available at 3. I'd say the Darko pick has to be worse solely because just about everyone thought that Carmelo was going to be a sure fire star before he stepped foot on an NBA court.

TOTALLY forgot about Darko! That was an unforgivable oversight. I guess this would be my top 5 (off top of my head):

1. Bowie over Jordan - no comment necessary.
2. Darko over Melo - no comment necessary either.
3. Marvin over Paul - Paul was the surest of sure things, the best college point guard prospect since Jason Kidd. And we had a gaping hole at point guard to feed it to our 3 athletic wing players, Joe Johnson, Josh Childress and Josh Smith. Marvin was a project with tremendous potential, but couldn't crack the starting lineup of a great college team as a freshman. And we already had 3 long young athletic wingmen on the roster, two of which we had just drafted. Completely indefensible. (you could probably put Williams over Paul in here too, but he's turned out to be pretty damn good)
4. Koncak over anyone - no comment necessary again.
5. Tractor over Dirk - easy in retrospect, but I remember clearly everyone mocking Nelson for saying that Dirk would be a perennial all-star. Not many people saw how good Dirk would be. EVERYONE who follows the league knew that a fat undersized post player would be garbage. Tractor should have gone second round at best.

i still think the shelden williams pick was worse than marvin. atleast marvin is decent. shelden williams just flat out sucks and several of the guys taken right after him ahve become legit nba players
