Pierce. He is playing unbelievable basketball ATM.

Perk was also great and Rondo had a nice 4th quarter...

Paul Pierce is a $#@!ing amazing basketball player. There are not many on this planet that can play the game better. Dude has serious, serious game.

Pierce is on an amazing run to start this season and he's probably playing as well as he ever has...EVER. He damn-near played a perfect game last night and took it upon himself to ensure that we'd come out victorious. That's the captain, the Truth, something, as exculpatory pointed out, all Celtic fans should be extremely thankful for on this day of rest and reflection.

Rondo put the game on his shoulders for a stretch in the 4th...but Pierce had the team on his BACK all night long.
The leaks are real...the news is fake.

I'm just here for the memes.

I'm the one who made the comment he's referring to, and I'll positively stand by it: Dude's 6'6, he can drive to the bucket whenever he wants and he can shoot it from virtually anywhere reasonable, he's got the complete package and that's why he's the Truth.

And really, the team was invisible for 3+ quarters. Ray Allen was solid, but obviously not at the level of a Hall of Fame 2 guard. KG=It's sad what happened to him. When he won the MVP I think it was 2003? To where he is now. And the trashtalking doesn't help his cause. He and Rasheed Wallace ganged up on a beat-up Sixers team all night, and although I'm not complaining, the refs allowed those guys to do their crap all night.

I can't believe Jason Kapono got a technical foul for taking Rasheed's BS, I mean at some point it's unacceptable. I'm all for banging the boards as a big and bringing toughness. But that trashtalking crap brings disrespect to the game. Especially when it's positively encouraged.

But it was a great game to watch, it was great to see our undermanned team fight(for really the 2nd time as in many games(Washington).) And it was great to see a guy takeover the game like PP. Even if it breaks your heart.

You have to let up if you are going to do the Victory Cigar threads. It is sucking the life out of the thing. I don't want the Rondo honks doing the same thing when he has a big game either. People should be able to vote for who they want to and talk about why and not have to feel like they have to defend the decision to the thought police. This wasn't started as a player of the game or mvp award, it was about what keyed the victory. It isn't about facts it is about opinion and if you can't handle it don't do it.

For most of the fourth quarter it was Rondo. Then for me he threw up that crappy ass air ball to avoid contact and he then gave up another lay up to Ray on the break that could have cost us. As great a game as Pierce had the reason I voted for him was taking the charge after Ray missed that bunny and fouling Kapono on the inbounds. That is what the Victory Cigar should be about, a discussion about the win not arguing or gloating about your guy or whatever, it is a team game baby.

Ubuntu.

Sully

I ALWAYS respect what you have to say. Remember the days long ago when you and Sam I Am and a few others stood beside me when Mud et al wanted to trade Paul for a bag of potato chips and Corey Maggette? Also, I respect your comprehensive knowledge of how the CBA etc works. You may be our most knowledgeable poster in that regard. In response to your comments:

1. I think we have a difference of opinion regarding what the Victory Cigar represents. I actually think the entire board is divided on this issue. You view it, I think (please correct me if I am wrong), as someone who performs a gamechanging event (for example, when Truth took that charge from Iggy in the last minute). I view the Cigar more as the "player of game" - the guy who had the most impact on the game. So we both voted for the Truth but for different reasons. Another example - I never would have voted for Scal because he hit a couple of critical 3s in a 5 minute third quarter stint a few games ago. Perhaps you did.

2. If I put up any other VC threads, I will state my opinion and, as I did for the Philly game and every other game, support it with stats. I have NO problem whatsoever with someone disagreeing with me in subsequent posts.

Happy and Healthy Txgiving!

People can view it as whatever they want. When Shackles, the mods, and myself came up with it the idea was more along the lines of who keyed the victory not a player of the game. It could be Scal hitting a big 3 or a guy who sucked all game making a bucket, or just a dominant performance. Vote how you want but don't cut on someone else for voting another way.

I did not "cut on anyone", dude. He said to tone it down, and I replied that I posted straight up factual stats and a quote from a Sixer fan. This was NOT about someone voting another way. He actually voted for Paul, but I could care less who he voted for. Read it again.
