WWE Giving up on Swagger?

Post#1 » by SpReEfOrAlL » Fri Nov 27, 2009 3:00 am

As young superstars Kofi Kingston and Sheamus are getting big pushes on WWE’s Raw brand, one young star not getting the same treatment is Jack Swagger. WWE has virtually given up on pushing Swagger to the next level and are disappointed with how he’s progressed thus far, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

When he first showed up on the WWE scene a little over a year ago, “The All-American American” was pegged as a future main eventer due to his look, size, charisma and in-ring ability. Fellow Oklahoman Jim Ross was said to have high hopes for him and has written extensively about Swagger’s natural ability and potential in his blog.

Swagger is considered to be a comedy guy and is ranked slightly lower than Chavo Guerrero on the Raw pecking order (Ouch.) Some feel he’s in danger of becoming “this year’s Chris Masters” (Ouch again.)

If this is true, then this is ridiculous. And an unbelievably stupid move by Vince and co.

The same thing looks to be happening to Ziggler. It makes the Sheamus title shot look even more stupid.

Swagger is good in the ring, but he's never going to be a main eventer. As silly as it seems, his lisp really is a huge obstacle as far as him becoming a huge star. With the way most of Raw is centered around mic work and promos, people just don't want to hear Swagger spitting and slobbering all over the mic. He's athletic as hell and is good in the ring, but sadly that's kinda secondary these days.

Having said that, I'd rather see him get a push than Sheamus. Although, I don't particularly like either of them.

Ziggler has the potential to be a Shawn Michaels type if they'd work on his look a little and push him a little more.

I don't agree. I think you can get by with a speech impediment as long as you have charisma. He could certainly do it as a heel. The crowd actually responds to him already. He always gets big heat.

Swagger is a stud and they're crazy if they keep wasting him and Ziggler. And honestly, if they work Ziggler's look a little bit to make him stand out a bit more, he's going to carry the company in a few years.

Yeah I think Swagger and Ziggler are good talents. Swagger will get his time i think and I thought Ziggler moving to Smackdown was the best thing for him...feuding with Mysterio and Morrison put him over in my books.

Raw is dumb as hell if they waste Swagger away like that. I want to see him face off against the Miz for the US title. They had the rivalry set up pretty good for a minute.

I thought Ziggler should've won that match for the IC belt against Mysterio at SummerSlam. He put on one hell of a show that night. The crowd even got behind him, and he's supposed to be a heel.
