MVP Rankings 1.0
The season is only 1/5 done and I find it's time to make an early rankings for the NBA's Most Valuable Player award. Read and comment.
1. LeBron James
James is on a tear so far and if his team can keep up with at least the top teams he will win this award for the second time in a row.
2. Dirk Nowitzki
Dirk Nowitzki is having another good season scoring 26 points and 9 rebounds. Now that Dallas is finally winning games he has a shot.
3. Kobe Bryant
Kobe is doing fine like usual and is on the tail of Dirk Nowitzki in the MVP race. The Lakers look good and it looks like they can only get better.
4, Carmelo Anthony
Denver is still suprising the league with it's good play and most of it comes because of the leadership of Carmelo Anthony.
--------------------------
5. Dwyane Wade
6. Andrew Bynum*
7. Steve Nash
8. Josh Smith
9. Joe Johnson
10. Chris Bosh
* Bynum might be suprising but he's almost scoring 20/10 on one of the NBA's Top teams. Look at him to make a slide now that Gasol is back.
Other Notable Players:
Chris Paul 11th
Amare Stoudemire 12th
Kevin Durant 14th
Brandon Jennings 16th

Fair enough. I can agree mostly with that list.
Is Larry Hughes having fun yet?

Re: MVP Rankings 1.0
Right now James doesn't Deserve the number one spot.
It should be either Nash or Dirk.
Both have brought their teams back from their mediocre fighting for the last few playoff spots to the top 4 of the standings.
Dirk has gone off on teams in ways he hadn't done before, this might sound biased but somehow the guy is still getting better and is playing at a level he only plays in the end of the season or in the playoffs. Enough of this ccrap that he chokes he's clutch as can be, if you your stupid enough to say he chockes you sir havent' seen him play much at all.
Nash is playing back at an MVP level now with Shaq gone, i guess he was only slowing him down. Now surrounded with player that match his skills. Richardson athletic, and can shoot, Stoudemire, Frye 3pt shooting center, Hill good player that can score for him.
Also Bynum does not beling on that list, and i say you can't have both Johnson, and Smith in in the top 10.
Jennigs should be a little higher.
Other than that its allrite i guess.

Because other people have been playing better and won more games. Dirk, Nash, Johnson, even Bryant.

Thanks for the Tip about team performance in the year before. I took it up into the calculation I use and the rankings change a whole lot. Any tips and suggestions are always welcome.
I still believe that LeBron is #1 Though.

You mean that someone is playing better than a guy who is currently doing 30/7/8 on 53% shooting, and only three teams have won one more game than his team?

Re: MVP Rankings 1.0
All your lists are based on player statistics and not influenced much by team wins, which is why the lack of Joe Johnson anywhere on those lists. The man has played fantastic team basketball, and lead his team to top-3 in the East.
The list should be something like this:
Melo
Joe Johnson
LeBron
Nash
Kobe
Dirk
Wade
Howard
Durant
Bosh
The list should be something like this:
Melo
Joe Johnson
LeBron
Nash
Kobe
Dirk
Wade
Howard
Durant
Bosh

The underappreciated greats:

Some seek fame cause they need validation, some say hating is confused admiration - Nasty, nasty Nas

Re: MVP Rankings 1.0
Melo and Joe Johnson are ahead LeBron on your list why? Because their teams have exactly the same record and no one is even close to LeBron's production?

As I allready mentioned earlier is that this list IS made upon team wins. Otherwise Kevin Martin and Danny Granger would be in the top 10. Only thing I will change for next edition is the diff between this season and last season in winning percentage.

Re: MVP Rankings 1.0
LeBron and Kobe, as it stands today, are neck and neck for number one. Dirk is close behind, but not quite there. Then Nash/Melo/Wade are all neck and neck.
With Gasol back, Kobe will probably drift further out, although the Lakers will probably continue to have a top record, so I'm sure he'll linger.
LeBron definitely deserves the #1 spot as it stands today. His production has been insane and the Cavs aren't exactly in the dumpster.

Its not really fair to Call Dirk-Irk if he's playing defense, and averaging 1.6blks and 1.2stls.
