Tyreke Evans - true value?

Post#1 » by jorgo » Sat Nov 28, 2009 12:13 am

If you would have to put a ranking value in a 8 cat league for remainder of season on Ty Evans, what would it be?

Would you trade Al Harrington+Andre Miller for him?

I wouldn't part with Evans for those 2 players combined right now. I just don't rate either of those players. Harrington is a chucker, Miller will be up and down depending on rotation.

His value right now is very high, when Martin comes back though I think he'll level out a little but I'm sure they'll find a way to get him strong minutes. If you're planning on trading him I'd do it over the next few weeks.

I like Tyreke a lot and think he's getting better. I wouldn't be looking to trade him, especially for other guards. If you need big men that's one thing, but his ceiling is higher than Harrington and Miller, plus he's playing better anyways.

The guy had put Evans on the trade block.

He wanted 3s, so I offered Harrington+Andre Miller.

He ended up trading Evans to another team for Calderon. 1 for 1.

Makes me sick...

I wouldn't have taken that deal. Harrington and Miller is not really that good of an offer.

Calderon is still a decent pick up despite not playing anywhere near his previous 2 seasons. Not sure if I would have taken that either.

It's hard for some people to gauge Tyrific's true value since his number kind of surged at a very high level since K-mart went down. Most of the people are afraid that his number might take a huge hit once K-mart comes back.

Well, I can't blame their opinions but I would suggest them to try looking at how Tyreke was playing at the earlier part of the season like for instance their game against the Hornets during last Oct 30, where both K-mart and Him were both efficient in scoring 20+ points that game. Or how coach Westpaul and the Kings organization value Tyreke and look at him as, somehow, like their team's messiah. Tyreke's stats at the early part of the season was horrible due to the fact that he was suffering from an injury during a game or two during the early part of the season. And like most rookies, they tend to struggle for the first few games of the season.

At the end of the day the facts are..
His value is definitely going to take a hit when K-mart comes back. Not just because he's not going to be their no.1 option option on offense anymore. But he's more suitable playing the SG position than the PG position, the position he'd be playing when K-mart comes back.

But at the end of the day, with the kind of pace the Kings' offense is running and how their team lacks a legit scorer aside from K-mart. Chances are, he'd provide you 16-18ppg with 5rpg and 5apg with solid FG and FT%.

And that makes him a top 50-60 fantasy player this season.
