I think it’s more the Knicks than our defense.
When you combine these three things:
- They’re on fire
- They played like they had nothing to lose, playing on the road against one of top teams in the L
- Thinking about the fact they’re on fire IN D’Antoni’s offense
Any good defensive team would have gotten fits… I thought generally we played good team defense… it’s just that D’Antoni’s offense is very hard to predict and therefore hard to guard against. So when D'Antoni has top decision makers like Nash back then, his team was very dangerous.
On a night like this, they could have beat almost anyone but we still beat them… I’m one of the toughest team critics… but I think we’re allowed a break for this one.
I think we played some very good defense, but they just hit shots and had that “we have nothing to lose anyway” attitude throughout the game, especially when they kept hitting shots and started to realize they were making everything and therefore get even more aggressive as the game went on.
In the end, they're still the Knicks
