Apologies to Me?

Post#1 » by JMac1 » Sat Nov 28, 2009 3:36 pm

I told you guys on the Lopez thread, Lopez and Clark were my favorite Suns. Why? Because they have to MOST ability to turn into true game changers. Lopez with his defense, rebounding and spoon fed dunks and WOW (I'm tearing) Clark Jshot is unblockable. I can see Clark growing into our one on one wing ISO guy. He doesn't need to be in the paint, unless he is driving. Put him at the 3. Did you see Minny run the double team at him late when Gentry started calling for the ISO on the elbow?

Earl Clark....."My man."

I'm still skeptical, to be honest. Coach's minutes seem to actually correlate to the players' abilities and the needs of the game (MADNESS!), so I think there's a reason Clark's only been in a few games so far.

Did I like what I saw in Minnesota? HELL YEAH! Did he do it against a good team? HELL NO!

Jury's still out -- but I hope you're right.

the wolves are probably the 2nd worst team in the league.

Directed at me?

Lopez did what he should do - play well against an inferior team.

And Clark? I LOVE Clark - read the draft thread and everything after that, he was who I wanted and I haven't said a bad word about him.

As for Lopez, let's see him play more than half a game first, and against an actual NBA team cos the TWolves right now are a mess.

I'm not on you abut Clark, pretty much every Suns' fan wanted him. Funny though, I believe everyone here was also praying that Jennings fell too. Lopez has been playing well. He played well against Sac and Memp at the end of last season. For some reason you don't believe what you see.

For the Clark posts, hitting his shot has nothing to do with who he is playing against. If he was posting up against inferior opponents then I would agree with "let's see what he does against "real" NBA players," whatever that means.

Do we really need an "I told you so" thread after Lopez played one game?

Probably because we are trying to win and not give away the #1 pick in the draft. He isn't given the rookie growing pain leash like other rookies who when they fail, big deal because their teams stink and there are no expectations. We can't afford to jeapordize games to develope Clark. But we are stunting his growth, valid or not valid reason. How many more games could he have played like that if he was giving the green light to do his thing?

It is not a "I told you so" thread. It is a slow your role on Lopez "being a nothing center" thread.

Wow.
Clark's moves on offense ain't smooth yet. No sign he would be better than the average SFs like Outlaw, Webster of the Blazers. I'd be glad if he turned out as good as Gomez of the Wolves. And Lopez has played only one game. Isn't that a little too early to claim he'd be as good as Amare as the sidekick to Nash?

Really? Clark defense and rebounding is ALREADY better than those guys. I saw him go to the basket and get fouled, when he was about to takeoff and dunk it. Please dont compare Clark to any of those guys, they are limited players in ability. Clark has exceptional ability for his size. He is quick as lighting, are you kidding me? Sessions went right and TRIED to penetrate on Clark and he got stuck at the top of the key, having to pass the ball. The dude is 6'10, long, quick, athletic, with handles and developing a J!? When he gets that J down, lights out. He will knock it down or blow by you to the hole. It takes awhile to develope that low post game ala kobe or Pierce. Clark has time.

We always judge his bad, but never the good things he does. I bet you are a Dragic homer. If dragic wipes is butt without getting doo doo on his hands you guys go crazy.

Pretty much the same as all the other baseless Lopez arguments. He had a great preseason. He had a great game against a team who is worse than a summer league team.

I love the potential in Lopez but a thread directed at TASTIC because Lopez had a pretty good garbage time performance?

Bump this thread back up when Lopez is averaging 10, 9 and 2 over 10+ games like you said in the other thread.

JMac, you can tell me - you, MVF and Statisback are all related, right. Or three aspects of one schizophrenic personality?

We all want Sideshow to play well, we all want Clark to be as good as we expect - and go back to the draft thread; by the time of the draft the overwhelming majority were fully on-board with taking EC.
It's a marathon, not a spring, as the cliche goes. One game is not a career. He puts his pants on one leg at a time. We need more cowbell. Etc.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's going to be a "nothing" center, but I don't think he's going to be anyone special like his brother Brook. He grabbed 7 rebounds and picked up 4 fouls against the 2nd worst team in the league, any less and I'd consider calling him out myself. I'm happy Lopez was contributing well above my expectations for his first game back, so I'm not going to argue against that.

But honestly, if you think his 8/7/2 and 4 fouls against the 2nd worst team in the NBA with a front court with one of their top rebounders injured and Jefferson coming back from a major injury, is a game worthy of starting a new thread to "call out" a mod then I think that's saying something about Lopez as a player.

Put ya breaks on Jmac and let the young'ins play. Give them time to grow before you set your expectations so high that the only place they have to go is down.

Clark is the Suns 4th best player after Nash, Amare and Richardson. Some people can make the argument for Hill and Barbosa I guess but last night we saw a glimpse of what he can do and why I was happy the Suns finally made a good draft pick. Chances are he wont make all his field goals everygame but besides scoring he brings defense, energy and basically can fill up anything on the stat line.

As for Lopez, yesterday was the first game where I saw him actually trying. If he does that everygame maybe he can become a solid rebounder and player. If he plays like that he can be a good player but I'd like to see more than one game.

Lopez and Clark will be great. No one is calling out anyone. Tastic doesn't have faith, I do. Tastic knows that I am a better judge of talent. But I understand his pessimism. Don't set any goals and you can't fail.

BTW, Lopez won't be better than Brook...Offensively. Brook is one of the best centers in the league RIGHT NOW! Maybe Robin can get him to join him here in 3 yrs :D Brook at the 4 and Rob at the 5!!
