I think what it amounts to is that it's very tough for a player on a failing team to make headway on the MVP discussion.

It's funny how Kobe is perceived when talking about MVP. He's always number 2,3, or 4 on everyones team.

He's been having a great season, shooting career high in % and leading his team to a great record. However, there is always someone who is above him. Whether its Lebron, Melo, Dirk, or Bosh; someone seems to always be ahead because of one or two games. The players above are GREAT players, they see bumps in their rankings after great games, whereas Kobe, no matter how great he plays, is always at number 2,3, or 4.

For example a lot of you have Lebron or Melo right now as #1. One of them will struggle at some point, and another player such as Dirk or Bosh will have a great game and all of a sudden they will be put at #1 or #2, while Kobe will still be #2 or #3. The cycle will continue like this till the end of the season and inevitably Kobe, whether he deserves it or not, will be 2, 3, or 4 on all the lists.

What I am trying to say is don't set the bar higher for Kobe than any other player. Judge him relative to how everyone is playing in the league. I know Kobe has had spectacular performances in the past, but don't let that be a disadvantage to him.

I think it's in your head man. The idea that the people who have LeBron at #1 are doing so just to find someone to put ahead of Kobe is comical. There are a million things to point to to say that LeBron surpassed Kobe, you don't need a conspiracy theory for it.

Yet Kobe, despite significantly inferior numbers across the board this season, manages to be ranked ahead of LeBron on quite a few rankings despite only 1 game separating the 2 teams.

In my list Kobe actually is not on top either. Still my rankings are in no way based on opinion but on a formula. I see Kobe rising up a bit still and eventually I hope Kobe wins it (Fanboy)

Umm, he is also shooting 4% better from the field and 15% better from the three point line, all in all he is scoring as much as Kobe while taking 4 shots less. And lol @ thinking the assists margin is something insignificant. LeBron is the 6th best in the league for christ sakes.
