■As for the possible future Piston I mentioned… Chris Kaman turned in a quality effort in the Clips win over hapless Detroit- 26 points on 11-13 shooting to go along with 7 boards

Speaking of doing work, Jonas Jerebko’s Friday night peformance is worth noting. He led the Pistons in scoring with 22. He was 8-11 from the field and drained all 4 of his trifectas.

Pistons may be the best 5-11 team I’ve ever seen.

Center/forward Tony Battie says he could be back playing next week. He had a good workout yesterday and didn't use the brace he has worn on his right knee for several weeks.

"Very minimal pain but it's one of those deals where you can see what you can do and see how it reacts tomorrow," Battie said.

Mr. Nick Erbocker in corner of 34th and Dreams.:
Tell me why Jordan Hill will be good-good, or do you think he's a Chris Wilcox type...

Preetom Bhattacharya:
I haven't seen anything from him at the professional level to say that to you, but in college, he was a strong post player, very athletic, and was an overall winner. I think he's definitely talented, but he's very raw as well.

Mayor of Championsships in Motor City:
Worse: passing on Jennnings, or drafting Darko over the others? With Iverson trade, Denver once again benefitted from Detroit f-ups. This yr detroit signed FA's that aren't working. Dumars - on the clock?

Preetom Bhattacharya:
I can't put someone on the clock when he guided his team to six straight Eastern Conference Finals appearances and such. He's earned two years to right the ship - it wasn't going to last forever. As for which was worse - I'm going to say drafting Darko .. and then him getting a big contract .. and then him still not playing well. The guy just didn't have the NBA mentality even though he had all the NBA gifts. He and Kwame Brown are probably the most disappointing players of this decade.

Brown to Iverson: Don't Retire
Larry Brown has a message for Allen Iverson: Don't give up. Iverson's former coach said yesterday he thinks the 10-time all-star "still has a passion to play" and shouldn't retire. An online report this week indicated Iverson had decided to end his career after receiving little interest from NBA teams.

Brown, who coached Iverson in Philadelphia when he was voted league MVP in 2001 while leading the 76ers to the NBA finals, said he's been trying to get in touch with him. "Anybody that knows him understands how much he loves to play," said Brown, now coaching the Charlotte Bobcats.

Commentator Stephen A. Smith published a statement on his website Wednesday attributed to the 34-year-old Iverson that said he planned to retire. It comes after the Memphis Grizzlies waived Iverson on Nov. 17 amid a dispute over Iverson's role with the team. There was also friction between Iverson and the Detroit Pistons last year because he didn't want to come off the bench.

Mason Jr. Injures Hamstring
Just when it appeared the Spurs might be returning to full strength for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, they were hit again by another injury.

Roger Mason Jr., who had overcome an early-season slump from the 3-point line and turned in his most complete game of the season Wednesday, left Friday's game against the Rockets in the second quarter with a strained left hamstring.

Mason did not return to the game and was limping noticeably as he walked to the team bus afterward.

Allen available to play against Heat
Ray Allen rejoined the Boston Celtics on Saturday after spending the night in a hospital with his ailing son.

Allen missed practice Saturday, but the Celtics said he was back with the team for its flight to Miami and should be available to play against the Heat on Sunday night in the opener of Boston's four-game road trip.

Allen went to the hospital to be with his son, Walker, after Friday night's victory over the Raptors. Walker Allen, now 2½ years old, was diagnosed with diabetes during the 2008 NBA Finals and the family found out shortly before Game 5. After losing that contest in Los Angeles, Ray Allen rushed to be with his son at the hospital, before scoring 26 points in a lopsided Game 6 victory in Boston that helped the Celtics raise banner No. 17.

Detroit Pistons Weekly Watch: Gordon Joins Injury Club, Piston Rookies Step Up (Excerpt)

When it rains, it pours.

For the last several years, the Pistons had been among the healthiest teams in the league. 16 games into the 2009-2010 season, the Pistons have suffered injuries to Richard Hamilton (ankle), Tayshaun Prince (ruptured back disc), and now Ben Gordon (ankle). Both Hamilton and Prince are day-to-day with no time tables for their return. Gordon is also day-to-day, but his injury isn’t as severe as Hamilton’s, so it’s not expected at this point that he will miss an extended stretch of games.

Though the Pistons are now on a 7 game slide initiated by a rough scheduling stretch against the best teams of the West, the Pistons rookies have stepped into the breach and are slowly finding their feet....

Gerald Wallace had 14 points and 14 rebounds, Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton each scored 12 points and the Charlotte Bobcats rolled over the Washington Wizards 92-76 on Saturday night.

The win was the Bobcats' fourth straight -- their longest winning streak since a five-game run from Feb. 25-March 7, 2009.

Charlotte never trailed and held Washington to 13 points in the second quarter to take a 42-32 halftime lead. The Wizards missed 14 of their 18 field goal attempts in the quarter.

Bucks guard Redd sits out vs. Magic with sore knee
Bucks guard Michael Redd will not play against the Orlando Magic because of a sore left knee.

Redd has already missed nine games because of a knee strain he sustained Oct. 31 against Detroit while dunking on a fast break. He returned on Wednesday and played in the final three games of Milwaukee's most recent road trip, averaging 7.6 points in limited minutes. But coach Scott Skiles said before Saturday's game that Redd told him the knee was sore after the Bucks' 108-90 loss to Oklahoma City on Friday night.

The Bucks are also missing center Andrew Bogut (left leg strain), who was hurt Nov. 18 and will miss his sixth game, and forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (left foot sprain), who was hurt Nov. 16 and will miss his seventh game.
