our team next year, plus year by year the next 5 years ?

Post#1 » by BillTheGOAT » Sun Nov 29, 2009 10:19 pm

how does our roster, cap and everything elso look like starting from next season 2010-11 ? It's basically the same roster (+-) ray ,house, marquis, plus 9 million for rondo, extension for paul pierce, 2 or 3 years extension ?

do we keep garnett his 4th/5th year or trade him ? I suggested this I while back but I got silly comments, replies.
Obviousely our main core should be pierce, rondo, perkins, I think after this season we shouldn't keep ray, only if he signs cheap or get someone with younger legs, plus sheed is expendable. glen davis is a keeper though. I knew they aren't gonna pick up giddens option next year, is sheed final year a player option ? he should leave too. I want big al when he finishes in minnesota, he would be 28 and reached his peak,we should get him then.
Or go after greg oden if we trade garnett next year, don't know if portland can sign a FA next summer and still keep oden.
next years FA that we can get if we get rid of ray and sheed, those two are the least productive at the moment. we could get camby, scola,r.bell, ridnour all these guys are ufa next year, i think garnett could be productive this year and probably next, but just dump ray and sheed next year.

I am very interested in what Sully has to say about this. He knows the CBA rules etc better than anyone on this board. I do not. LOL.

Of course, I personally would extend Paul for 3 years, i.e. 2010-2011 as per his current contract, or perhaps Paul will take a little less for that year if he gets extended for 2011-2012, 2012-2013, and 2013-2014. Then he retires a Celtic with a 16 year career at age 36 1/2 - and becomes assistant GM. :0)

Trading Ray next summer or KG the following summer??? Tough tough decisions.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

i think the starter most likely to get traded will be ray. his expiring should be enough to get us a younger player with similar if not better potential that will help us stay in title contention for many years to come.

Maybe Al Jefferson will be KG'd in Minny and we get him via trade. :D

Its really hard to predict what will happen in the years to come. I think barring a fantastic trade that lands us a top 5 or so talent we are keeping Rondo. Likewise, we are probably not looking to trade Perk either. With the big 3, it all comes down to what we can get for them. They all will have a decent value to us as they age so we would have to get someone who paired with Rondo makes us a good team for years to come. I think Baby is about our only chip. We will have a better idea of his future when he comes back. Sheed stays as long as we are a good team.

I don't think that we will look to do a total rebuild unless someone gets hurt or the decline of the big 3 goes at much more rapid pace than currently anticipated. Even if we can't trade anyone for a younger star, the team as is will eventually be under the cap and decent enough to land a star, so that is also an option.

I hope that we don't have to go into a full tank and rebuild mode. I am so sick of that.
