Official Red Claws tracking thread!

We will probably see a lot of Walker/Giddens/Hudson in the DL this season, so it would be nice to have a thread where we could follow how they are doing...

Red Claws played their first game yesterday and lost big but Walker had a good game with 25 points and 11 rebounds...

It would be nice to see Bill Walker dominate in the D-League, and show he can be a big-time scorer at the 2.

Celtics forward Bill Walker, assigned to Maine of the NBA Development League last weekend as he recovers from recent knee surgery, scored a team-high 25 points as the Red Claws fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, 112-95, in their season-opener Friday night.

Walker connected on 8 of 18 attempts overall, while adding 11 rebounds, 2 assists, and a blocked shot. He did commit a team-high five turnovers in 32 minutes, 45 seconds of action.

So far so good

Anyone watching this game on futurecast? Hasn't been bad so far. The team is alright, specially on the second half of a back to back (where the announcer said they were bussed there through the night, ouch). I like Blalock and Felix off the bench. Walker hasn't really done anything cause of foul trouble but his two baskets were great moves on the post.

Fun game. It was really close until the end. Walker put on a scoring show in the fourth, after not doing anything in the first three quarters, and the game was over. Seems like a solid team but I have no idea if the Dakota Wizards are any good.

Game 2 box score

So, Walker looked good? How was his defense, he is known for not giving 100% on defensive end...

Walker looked ok, not great. That box score is wrong (they had a lot of problems even during the game with the stats). He had 5 fouls, which really hurt his playing time. Pretending the playing time is right he played the whole 4th quarter, thankfully Ainge kept him in when he got his 5th early in the 4th. So thats only 12+ mins played in the first 3 quarters.

The good: He scored 7~ consecutive to put Maine up for good in the 4th. Took over the game with relative ease during those couple minutes. The jumper looks good. His post game looks great, best play was putting up an and1 against two defenders in the first half down on the block.

The bad: During the end run he had two really bad turnovers, basically throwing the ball to the other team. His offense when starting at the 3 point line was basically wait a while and then jack up a 3. I thought he had a good first step but he sure didn't show it.

Can't really comment on the D, he played so little through most of the game and then he was passive to not get fouled out. This could have just been an off night since they played yesterday (and the box score seems like he did a lot better in the opener). Don't even remember seeing him crash the offense boards but good defensive rebounder (8).

Thanks for starting this thread.

We really need a SF off the bench that can shoot the 3 and play some defense. I'm hoping that gut is Bill Waker. So far after two games, he is shooting the 3 well and is rebounding and scoring well. I hope he can keep it up.

Our team needs some fresh legs and Walker can provide that if he can stay healthy.

Ajinca played well in the DL last season. He should compliment Walker and be the starting center.

Don't be folled by Ajinça being listed 7-0, he is taller. And for that height he has incredible range. Hopefully both him and Walker will learn a lot there. Expect more Bobcats fans showing up in this thread:)

And good luck AFTER Tuesday:)

I used to get excited about performances in the DLeague, but no more. You can tell when a player isn't good enough for the N'BA, like when Gerald Green couldn't dominate the Dleague. But you have no way of knowing if dominating the Dleague means you can play in the NBA. Pruitt, Walker and Giddens played great in the DLeague, but it meant nothing as far as the NBA goes.

I'm going to the first home opener on Friday! I'm psyched. I'll try to provide some pics and a review.

Anyone watching? Walker with 12 points already in the first quarter

Also the Red Claws D (as a team) is pretty awful, good thing Springfield is worse
