Re: GM a Team 2010 - Trades & Transactions Thread
Dallas and GS have agreed on a deal
Dallas sends: Kelenna Azubuike (6.0), Jason Smith (2.2), rights to Damion James = 8.2 x 1.25 = 10.25
GS sends: Marcin Gortat (6.3), CJ Miles (3.7), 2011 SA 1st = 10 so salary works
Why? I get the perfect complement to Dwill in Azu, a young, knockdown SG, and save a bit of money

Dallas accepts because i like Gortat's skills and could have a long career here in Dallas.

Re: GM a Team 2010 - Trades & Transactions Thread
K. As the deadline approaches, one last deal to announce.
Spurs and Nuggets have agreed to a blockbuster:
Nuggets send: Tony Parker (12.6 million) and Beno Udrih (6.01 million) = 18.6 million
for
Chauncey Billups (13.1 million) and Boris Diaw (9 million) = 22.1 million
18.6 x 1.25 = 23.25 > 22.1
What the heck.
Full circle in a bizarre way for both teams, but we add a very nice piece in Boris Diaw who brings the versatility this team needs to the table, and Billups gives us steady veteran leadership and an amazing fit with our scorers. We now have the solid passing to go with great scoring. Both our defense and offense should improve with this deal.

Re: GM a Team 2010 - Trades & Transactions Thread
^^^Confirmed.
We cut salary but more then that we add a guy we regreted trading in the first place.
Parker now gives me a youngish core of Parker/JJ/Melo/Chandler and Hayes can fill the void that KG will leave when he retires.
In terms of gameplay talk about fit, Parkers driving and scoring mentality complements JJ's playmaking and outside shooting perfectly.

Azubuike can not be traded yet - 1 week between trades for newly signed FAs and they keep their BYC status as well.

Wasn't he already traded from Chicago to Dallas?

Re: GM a Team 2010 - Trades & Transactions Thread
Exactly, which is why he can't be traded again for 1 week from time of the last trade approval. Buike had been signed for a week by the time that CHI/DAL deal happened.
Since the deadline is in less than 24 hours he is for all intents and purposes, untradeable.

Wait, so let me get this straight. Buike had been signed, then a week went by, then traded (using BYC), and now he's trying to be traded again, but you are saying they have to wait an additional week and he keeps his BYC status? Is that right?

yep, thems is the rules we hammered out at the beginning
It was set up that way to make FA signings have more importance/commitment.

Yes, we set it up that a player would be BYC after his new contract. We also set it up where he would have to wait to be traded after signing. Both similar to real life.
What's not similar is keeping those two things after a player is traded after that.
Does a player's BYC status stay after being traded? No.
Does a player have to wait to be traded after just being traded? Not in most (all?) cases.
So why are we doing it? The wait period is already over and BYC status is gone. The trade should work. Obviously I don't have any part in that trade, but I do have a problem with rules that shouldn't be.

You were the only one that spoke out against this rule when it was made at the beginning of the game as part of a compromise to allow extensions. Nobody else did so it stayed and will not be changed now. If there was support to change it back then, it would have been done.
here is the rule...
r0cd0gg wrote:2. There will extensions but with a twist. EVERY extended player will be BYC - 1/2 $ for outgoing & full $ for incoming. Extended player will not be allowed to be traded for 1 week. This rule will reapply after each trade. Same rules will apply to all 2010 FAs. This way you have to be truly vested in acquiring said player.

Re: GM a Team 2010 - Trades & Transactions Thread
The New York Knicks and Golden State Warriors have agreed upon a trade.
The Knicks send Derrick Rose ($5,546,160), and JR Smith ($6,694,851) in exchange for Deron Williams ($14,940,153).
Knicks Outgoing/Warriors Incoming: $12,241,011 X 1.25 = $15,301,263.
Knicks accept, this trade was hard for us. We had to think about this one for a long time, but couldn't pass up on the chance to acquire Deron, who's not only one of the top players in the game, but a better fit currently with the team I have compared to the skillset Rose brings.

Warriors accept. We love Deron, but Rose is younger and fits better in our uptempo offense. We also save a few million and pick up a young SG on a great contract.

Trading will cease come midnight EST
I have posted a write ups thread so you can start planning for that portion of the game. Make sure you get your roster within the 12-15 man limit.
