Rank (or group) these leagues in terms of quality/competitiveness.

I'm looking to become a little more familiar with some of these leagues, and I'm interested in having someone with pretty good knowledge to sort of place these leagues into groups. I know some of the more well known ones like Spain, Isreal and Greece, but after that it kind of tails off for me. I could make some guesses based on where players come to the NBA from, and where some former NBA players go to, but I'd much rather hear from someone actually in-the-know.

2. Spain (ignore hype that says it is best because it is not)
3. Italy
4. Russia
5. Adriatic
6. Turkey
7. Baltic
8. France
9. Germany

The rest do not even matter because they are terrible. Next year will be new league in UK called BBA and it will have a very large budget with basketball departments of big soccer clubs. So maybe it will be a top league in future.

The others like Netherlands or GB or Swiss etc... don't really matter as they are equally crap, well may be the Netherlands league has a few more good teams then the other two. The Slo, Srb, Cro, Lith,... leagues best teams are in the Adriatic or the Baltic league so i didn't really bother with each league.

As far as Greece vs. Adriatic goes:
PAO and Oly>>>>>Partizan+Olimpija+Cibona
Partizan>>Maroussi
Olimpija and Cibona=or> Maroussi
FMP, Hemofarm, Red Star, Zadar, >>>>>Panellinios, Aris, and others

I agree with your rankings. And just as a basketball fan, I would much rather watch a Lega A game over A1, the Italian league is more entertaining imo.

I realise it's not Europe and that our league has plummeted in recent years but where would the Australian league rank in among those?

League needs a major overhaul. It was once among our most popular spectator sports but now lacks. At a domestic competition it is the #1 sport in Australia. Just need to cross the domestic level interest into professional interest. Most people who are into it on a domestic level are huge NBA fans but can't tolerate our local pro league because of the way it has been managed.

Anyone that is say Italy or Adriatic is better then Greece never watched European domestic or regional league basketball. Or they only watch one league or so. Because to put Italy or Adriatic over Greece is literally a joke. Go start a post saying that in any European forum and see what happens. I suggest biggest European forum interbasket.net (ask there is Italy or Adriatic better then Greece and most would laugh at you) Clearly, no Europeans have posted in this thread. They are strictly NBA only fans.

BTW, you forget about United League. It is better then Baltic League and very close to Adriatic and Italian League. In next few years it may even be best national or regional league in Europe as it will have big expansion of more good teams soon.

KSWN man, i feel devotion and so on, you are just very funny..Greece league consist of 2 great teams(well, one great(PAO) and one very good(OLY)), 2 above average (Aris, Maroussi) and other is just average or trash...

For the Adriatic league;
Three good teams ( Cibona, Olimpija, Partizan), three above average teams(Hemofarm, Zadar, Crvena zvezda), other is also average..
Italy vs Greece is debatable, while Adriatic league is better than Greece.. Period..
And this is coming from European fan

I know this is an old topic, but how strong/weak would you say is the Swiss League compared to say Netherlands, Belgium, etc.? Is it comparable to the German ProA (2nd league) or ProB (3rd league)?

Probably same level as the belgian league and above Netherlands.

You overrate adriatic league, it is clearly behind Italy and Greece, and maybe even Russia and Turkey.
Also i think you pu Lith league too high, sure there are 2 really good teams but most are semi-amateurs, it would rank it behind the baltic league, Germany and legadue IMO.
