Raiders cut Mike Williams, who signs him?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Wed Oct 31, 2007 3:40 am

Radiers waived WR Mike Williams.
What a way to go out. Williams made some progress in Oakland, but was inconsistent and dropped a key pass on fourth-and-14 last week that ended the game for the Raiders. Williams was thrown-in with Josh McCown for the Raiders' fourth round draft pick on draft day. While Williams will likely get one more shot in the league, it's only a matter of time until he joins Charles Rogers in career purgatory.

Both him and Charles Rogers, what a waste of talent.

He's an out-of-shape prima donna with no discernible skills other than being tall and an early bloomer. At least Charles Rogers had legit injury and drug issues to help derail his sorry butt.

Note to draftniks--the more I watch Mario Urrutia, the more I see Mike Williams II.

He was so highly touted coming out of USC and was uber talented and skilled as well, what happened to him? Was it the work ethic or was it a simple case of not being able to translate his game to the pro-level?

Everyone knew he was too slow for WR and too light for a TE. If he wasn't a little bitch, he would've bulked up and started working on his blocking.

The Lions trade you AND Josh McCown for a 4th (?) round pick, as well as the Raiders cut you....you probably aren't getting another NFL roster spot for a while.

So maybe the Dolphins, Rams, or Falcons...they have 1 win total between the 3 of them...its not like they are going anywhere.

His fellow USC mate Dwayne Jarrett might face the same consequence. Hes been inactive all season and to top it off...

Very interesting incident just happened in the locker room. Two reporters were talking with rookie receiver Dwayne Jarrett about his frustration at barely getting to play after being a second-round pick.

As Jarrett was talking, receiver Steve Smith, who hasn

Isn't Houston still the fattest city in America?

Mike would love it there!

While Charles Rogers had substance abuse issues, at least he suffered season ending injuries back-to-back years. Williams was just too damn fat and becoming a cancer. Marinelli wanted to cut his ass last year but couldn't due to cap concerns.

At least Detroit was smart enough to get something for him while they could.

Still doesn't takeaway the pain from the trio of terror(Rogers, Williams, Harrington).

Looks like Clarett taking someone else down with him.

I wonder what would have been if he had gone to his senior year in college. Not saying that it would have made a drastic difference but definetely better than the way he has been playing.

More on the Jarrett front:

The Panthers are going to do anything they can to get rid of him this summer. You cannot imagine how far in the doghouse Jarrett is with Fox, his teammates, and esp. the front office. There was debate between Donnie Shell (the dir. of player development) and Don Gregory (Dir. of scouting) with the Richardsons about taking Jarrett. The Richardsons and their proxy GM wanted Jarrett; the football people did not. Jarrett has made the owners look real bad and from what I've heard they're screaming for vengeance. Shell and Gregory both lobbied hard for either Jarrett's teammate Steve Smith or Jacoby Jones. I have it on good authority they would have taken Smith if they didn't already have a Steve Smith WR on the roster. It's stupid crap like that which I'm learning happens a lot more than we think it does.

Smith was exactly right in his shot across the bow to Jarrett. The big guy got real happy with his signing bonus and is the last guy to arrive and the first one to leave every team function. They sardonically joke he doesn't even know where the weight room is, even though it's like 12,000 square feet and you have to walk past it to get to the lockers.

what is worng with the majority of these USC receivers? most of them lack the work ethic you need to make it in the NFL, and that is why there are so many high pick receivers from USC which turn out to be busts. I think because of this a great receiver such as Patrick Turner will drop.

Majority of USC WR's end up having attitude problems when they come to the NFL. It was only a few years back in Tampa, when Keyshawn was kicked off the Buccaneers for being a disruption.
