Kristic Suffers Achilles Injury
Injuries are starting to mount for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Starting center Nenad Krstic, averaging 8.3 points and 4.9 rebounds will miss tonight's contest with Houston because of a sore achilles. "Nenad will be out tonight and then will be day-to-day," said Thunder coach Scott Brooks. "We'll start Etan (Thomas) in his place, it should be a good match-up."
The Thunder will get a little bit of a break since Rockets starting center Chuck Hayes is just 6-foot-6. Thomas, at 6-foot-10, is two inches shorter than Krstic but can move around a little better and is a bit more of a wide body to go up against Hayes. "Hayes is about as tough as a 6-6 guy can be," said Brooks.

Luis Scola Leaves Game With Eye Injury
Luis Scola, who never has missed a game in his three NBA seasons, does not plan to now. He left Sunday's game when he was hit in the right eye by Etan Thomas 22 seconds into the game, opening a gash that needed seven stitches.
Scola said he will go for tests today but believed he would play Wednesday in Los Angeles against the Clippers. “We're going to see a doctor tomorrow,” Scola said. “I wanted to come back (Sunday) but Keith (Jones the athletic trainer) wouldn't let me.”
But the Rockets thought Scola would return. “We kept waiting for Luis to come around the corner running,” Shane Battier said. “I had his back. People were like, ‘Where's Luis?' I said, ‘Oh, he's Argentinean. He's going to rub some dirt on it, run back out, like Willis Reed.' I kept looking. It was like the movie Shane. Shane doesn't come back. It was like, ‘Come back, Luis. Come back. Come back.'

Dampier, Howard Return Getting Close?
The Mavericks may not have played the toughest schedule so far, but they have played one of the busiest. As of Sunday, only Portland had played more games than the Mavericks. Starting today, and throughout December, things get a little more normal. After six back-to-back sets in the first 17 games, the Mavericks only have two such situations from now until the new year.Optimism abounds for many reasons. After all, the holiday season is supposed to be joyous and the Mavericks have nine of their next 15 games at home before Jan. 1. They also expect to have some manpower rejoining them soon. Erick Dampier is expected to return later this week and Josh Howard probably will be back at some point in December.
Their return should help alleviate some of the significant minutes-played load on Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd and Jason Terry. "We could have lost some of those games," Nowitzki said. "We scrambled actually to win some of those games against the lesser opponents with the lineups we had. "We haven't really scratched the surface yet with all the guys out. Josh tried it and he's out again. Damp's going to be out for another couple games. It's kind of hard to see where we're really at. The record's decent, but we won't get carried away. It's nothing phenomenal. We're sitting at 12-5, which is nice, but it's not like we've really done anything."
As his leadership abilities have grown, Nowitzki has become excellent at knowing when his teammates need a pat on the back and when they need a dose of reality. At 12-5, and after getting beaten by 16 points at Cleveland, reality is what they get.

Stojakovic Out for Personal Reasons
Peja Stojakovic has skipped the New Orleans Hornets’ trip to Sacramento for personal reasons.
Team spokesman Dennis Rogers says the Hornets’ swingman had to attend to family matters and was out for Sunday night’s game against the Kings. It was not immediately clear whether Stojakovic will be able to join New Orleans for Tuesday night’s game at the Lakers.

Barbosa May Miss Up to Two Weeks
Suns guard Leandro Barbosa will sit out for at least the remainder of this road trip, which continues Tuesday in New York and Wednesday in Cleveland.
Barbosa sprained his left ankle in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 113-94 victory at Toronto.
-rays taken after the game were negative but he will miss at least two games and Barbosa said it could be as much as two weeks before he plays again. The time off will also help with his right wrist, which still has limited motion and a lump from a cyst inside the wrist. "It was sore, really sore," said Barbosa, who remained upbeat after the game. "It looked bad on the outside but it hurts on the inside of it."

Conley OK After Shoulder Sprain?
The Grizzlies experienced an abrupt change in the point guard rotation when veteran Jamaal Tinsley started the second half in place of Mike Conley. That's because Conley suffered a sprained left shoulder just before the intermission. The third-year guard got tangled up with Los Angeles Clippers guard Baron Davis, and was injured when Davis jerked his arm from Conley.
Conley said he lost feeling in the shoulder during halftime. He sat on the bench with the shoulder heavily wrapped in ice as the third quarter began. "(Davis) kind of yanked my shoulder a little bit, and I felt a little pop," Conley said. "I had to sit down and get the feeling back in my arm. Once I got the feeling back, I was able to play."
Conley re-entered the game with 1:39 left in the third. He connected on a 21-foot jump shot a short while later. Conley, though, grabbed the shoulder and grimaced in pain after the shot. "I've just got to watch it the next couple of days and make sure it gets stronger," Conley said. "It's not serious. It was stiff for a while but I'm sure I'll be OK."

JaMar in Pontiac,MI:
Who do you think the Piston should trade to make thier team better?
Bill Ingram:
I don't think it's as much about making a trade as it is about getting Rip and Tay back. Of course, having Charlie V and Ben Gordon injured now, as well, makes life even tougher . . .but if all those guys are healthy the Pistons are a decent team.

Brand returns to 76ers lineup
Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand has returned to the lineup Monday night against the Dallas Mavericks after missing three games with a sore right hamstring.
Brand, who was injured last Tuesday against Washington, was the first 76ers player off the bench and entered with 5:46 left in the first quarter. He came in averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in 14 games this season.
Meanwhile, Dallas center Erick Dampier started after missing eight games with an undisclosed illness. Dampier was taken to the hospital during warmups against Detroit on Nov. 15.

Pistons coach John Kuester says team didn't stop battling during skid
Detroit Pistons coach John Kuester acknowledged that the players might have had some confidence issues during the seven-game losing streak that ended Sunday with a 94-88 win against Atlanta, but he didn't fault their effort during the rough stretch. "Players get down," Kuester said. "They recognize that, hey, it's no fun losing. But I think they always battle, and that's all you can ask."
The Pistons have been shorthanded all season but played hard until the end and stayed close in several games during the streak, which included a brutal four-game West Coast swing that was sandwiched between home games against Dallas and Cleveland.
Kuester said the 117-91 loss at Phoenix on Nov. 22 was the exception. "The other games, our guys always battled, so I've been very proud of them -- all of them -- throughout the entire season," he said. "So to get a victory is huge right now. As they say, you stop the bleeding a little bit. "Now, what we have to do is build on it."

Technically speaking
Kuester earned his first technical Sunday, but he didn't seem to do much to earn it.
"That was interesting," Kuester said. "No, I didn't say a lot. I don't even want to comment on that.
"I said, 'Can I speak to you for a second?' "

Andrew Bogut returned with 22 points, 15 rebounds and two big blocks in the closing minutes to rally the Milwaukee Bucks to a 99-97 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night after squandering a big lead.
Brad Miller missed a shot at the buzzer that would've tied it after Derrick Rose, who had 17 of his 19 points in the second half, decided to pass up the final opportunity as Chicago lost its fifth straight.
Carlos Delfino and rookie Brandon Jennings added 15 points each, but Milwaukee failed to protect a big second-half lead for the second straight game.

Bulls' Kirk Hinrich will miss Pistons game
Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich will be out one to two weeks with a sprained left thumb, an injury he sustained during a practice last week while the team was on a West Coast road trip. “It’s part of those things you can’t control. As soon as Kirk feels like he’s able and healthy and there’s not a high risk of re-injuring that where he’s out a long time, he’ll be back,” Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said tonight before Chicago took on the Bucks in Milwaukee.
The Detroit Pistons visit the Bulls on Wednesday. Hinrich said he wanted to return as soon as the end of this week but hasn’t been able to grip the ball effectively with the hand. He was examined today by head team physician Dr. Brian Cole and hand specialists Dr. John Fernandez and Dr. Marc Cohen of Midwest Orthopedics at Rush University. Their examination confirmed the earlier diagnosis of a left thumb sprain. “The guys are going to have to play a little bit extra minutes, probably. (We’ll) use the bench as best we can,” Del Negro said. “There’s no easy answer to it.”
Hinrich missed the Bulls' game last week at Utah. Last season, he was out for 31 games after tearing a ligament in his right thumb. Hinrich has appeared in 13 games this season, averaging 8.9 points and 4.3 assists.
