This kid is telling what could happen, it's not my fault you want to ignore the legalities of this case. Will it happen? Don't know, but it could is my point. Don't believe me? Google athletes getting hit by the IRS for trying to hide money, avoiding taxes.

Several posters have already mentioned the IRS laws in regards to gifts, and the IRS is going after any and all who avoid paying taxes in this economy especially. It's a legit legality, whether you want to believe it or not. I'm not the only one saying it.

The sad thing is you actually believe that people here don't understand law/taxes and getting in trouble while either being an athlete or a regular Joe. The only thing you are doing is reinforcing the obvious and that part of this story was never my point. My point sailed right over your head.


But next time the authorities are investigating someone who may have broken the law, I will be sure to ask you if they could get in trouble.

Well in a thread about a Laker, on a Laker board, I would say it's going to be a given to ask what could happen when a Laker is involved, in anything such as this.
