Chris Paul to Jazz why not?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Tue Dec 1, 2009 4:49 pm

Here is a crazy trade that liekly would never happen but has the Jazz get Paul to play alongside Williams and gives broke Hornets salary cap relief with expiring contracts plus NYK pick.

Jazz get Paul, Posey, & Okafur (Jazz have to take him to get deal done)
Hornets get Boozer, Brewer, Korver, Maynor, Harpring, and NYK pick

Jazz Lineup:

PG Paul Williams Price
SG Williams Matthews Miles
C Okafur Memo Fess Kosta
PF Millsap Memo
SF Miles AK-47
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

Paul is a top 10 player in the NBA, of all of them why would we go after him?

LOL at your responses but I actually think New Orleans does do this bc they have to get rid of Okafur's contract.

You have to admit before the season started, all of you would have done it in a second for the Jazz. Boozer playing like an allstar if not MVP last few games so I understand why you would not want to trade him BUT are we going to lose him at end of the season for nothing? If so, then this trade is at seasons end, the NYK pick for Chris Paul and Okafur.

If Paul demanded a trade from NO, the Jazz would have the best chance of getting him. Paul for Williams. The Jazz get an upgrade and NO gets another max pay point guard in return. But both together? It would make no sense.

I didn't know trading D-will for Paul would be an upgrade.

Umm or not.. I think people are really (Please Use More Appropriate Word) if they have a problem with someone taking DWill over CP3.

And yes, I still think DWill > CP3, Deron imo is a better defender, shooter and just as good of a passer. he is perfect for our system and dominates him one vs. one.

Shooting - Deron > CP3
Finishing around the rim - Deron < CP3
Playmaking/passing - Deron = CP3
Size - Deron > CP3
Speed - Deron < CP3
Turnover rate - Deron < CP3
Defense - Deron = CP3 (I feel Deron can guard better but Paul gets more steals)

Overall they are pretty even in my book. And if I had to choose between two even players at the same position I always take the size. IMHO

IMO CP3 is better than Deron, but not by much. You've got one thing wrong in your analysis though.

In no way am I upset that the Jazz selected Williams over Paul. At the same time, I wouldn't complain if it were the other way around. IMO Williams size advantage is only an advantage in a few categories, while Paul's smaller size and speed give him some advantages as well. So their sizes have nothing to do with it. I just honestly believe that CP3 has been statistically better than Williams, mostly in matters of efficiency.

I'm not upset at Deron's defense like a lot of guys, I've always seen him as one of the better defenders on the Jazz. He has also been the most consistent player for years. The turnover problem is not new, and isn't really worse than Stockton's was in his best years.

I'm not a hater, I'm just honest with myself.

The fact is if you want Paul, you probably have to give up Deron. Like it or not, that's where the talks would have to start for New Orleans to listen.
