Max you do realize the reason Canseco didnt face any legal actions was because well over 50% of the people he called out in his book were users RIGHT and the league couldnt do anything about since all those people did juice?
For the most part there were some H.O.F and F.H.O.F as well and they were all tested for juicing and they did come up positive. But in this case noone other than Donaghy is the focus of the attention, investigation and has been convicted of wrong doings so I think its fair to say that unless Donaghy is going to write how he screwed up the game and the way he shaved points or what he had for breakfest in prison then for the most part if he fabricates lies or starts calling out people then he will definantly see retaliation towrds him and his book from who ever he calls out.

Tim Donaghy is out alone on a island. If he starts fingering people he better be telling the truth and be able to prove it. He has absolutely no one to corroborate his information. I refuse to read this book however, as im not going to put money into the pocket of a scumbag like Tim Donaghy.

Tim Donaghy's Book found a publisher

Its people like you loscy that keep turning a blind eye to the BS that the NBA and its officials have become. I'd rather pay 20$ and find the truth that this guy has to say about what most of us have thought for a long time now: The NBA fixes games and/or series. And the referee's has a large part to do with that.

People that truly don't believe that are just turning away from the truth. I will believe whatever he says in the book, more so because what he says are things that most probably have already thought anyways.

It's just my opinion, but the NBA is going to go down HARD.

Can't wait, yeah he's a dirt bag and a rat, but damn, I love this ish. True or not, we're gonna get some reactions, and we as the public will dictate what is true or not.

I won't repeat all of what I said on the GB, but I hope this ultimately leads to the long overdue retirement of David Stern in the not so distant future. He's a cancer to the forward progress of the great sport of basketball.

Just remember that before this guy got convicted Stern himself guaranteed that 100% of the referees (including Donaghy) were CLEAN. Now that Donaghy was convicted, they're trying to make us all believe everyone else still is. It's not that hard to believe that this guy wasn't working alone.

You and me BOTH brother---along with Bennett Salvatorre..........Worst 3 in the League, I don't even mind Violet too much.

we SHOULDN'T even know ANY of the refs names---they should be background players in this NBA....BUT, because of their incompetence alone,we know them all too well.

That's because the referees are mini napoleons who try to steal the show and get some attention towards themselves.

These guys are supposed to be invisible mediators who ensure that a game runs smoothly. After all, people are here to watch their teams, and their favorite players play some basketball. Instead, we have referees who chatter with players/coaches, exchange jokes/hugs/waist-grabs with them, and showboat while doing their jobs. These self-entitled fools need to be put back in their place.

I agree with you 100%, the issues with the NBA start at the top.

Donaghy has NOTHING to lose...he's been to prison, disgraced, out of a job...why would he bother lying at this point??

Agreed, there is no way he was a lone wolf, much as Stern (who remember, was a LAWYER in his previous life) would have us believe...

Yes they do...people can bellyache all they want about the refs being separate from the league in terms of who they report to, but Stern is the overlord of ALL of it and if he didn't like this he could easily have rectified it years ago...

Even my fiancee, who only watches basketball reluctantly with me, thinks many games are rigged.

Massive point

Number of MLB Umpires names I know: Zero
Number of NFL officials names I know: Zero
The name of the rec center guy who fills in on both youth baseball and basketball (which I coach) when officials don't show up, that I BS with all the time after games: Hell, I don't know. Nice guy though.

But the number of officials in the NBA I can name is staggering.

There was a time when the only one I knew was Earl Strom, and he is in the hall of fame.

Something really wrong with that picture
Full of sound and fury; signifying nothing

Red (from what I remember reading) never liked Stern and thought he had a anti-C bias...that's fwiw is good enough for me.

Red was right, Stern does have it out for the C's...but he's just carrying on the tradition of the NBA from its inception...

I know Ed Hoculey (spelling?) in the NFL only cos he's been around forever and the commentators are always making comments about his muscular arms...

MLB umps, I know none. As a kid I only knew in the NBA Earl Strom and 1 or 2 others who had been around forever...

But right now I know Javie, Bavetta, Salvatore, Palmer, Crawford, and loads of other names...to the point where, like many of you on here, I groan in anticipation of the biased and poor reffing when I see who the crew is before each game...it shouldn't be like that, that's wrong...
