Glen is close to helping.....

Post#1 » by Kefa461 » Wed Dec 2, 2009 12:32 pm

Glen “Big Baby’’ Davis is scheduled to get the cast off his right hand today and could be cleared for workouts in the next several days. Davis has missed the entire season after breaking his right thumb in a fight with a friend Oct. 26

Good. BBD can help spark our offense I think.. I don't really love his game but he has some youthful energy and scoring ability that can really help our second unit which is a bit too perimeter oriented..

Well said. At the very least Baby will give us another look or option to through out there.

How is Glen going to help this? Apart from put-backs, his entire game is perimeter oriented...all he has in his offensive repetoire is the mid-range jumper...he's useless in the post!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

It's really time to stop calling him Big Baby. It might have been cute when he was 12, at this point it's just embarrassing.

Welcome back Glen.

my only thing is that Glen will take away some of Shelden's minutes. Shelden has played very well for the time he's been in there.....he deserves to keep his minutes.

18 games 14.1 minutes per game .500 FG % .804 FT% - 4.0 Rebounds 0.6 Blocks & 5.2 Points

Shelden has been great, but don't forget that Baby is even better. Baby was playing better than what we're seeing from Shelden in preseason before he got hurt. And don't forget what we saw in the playoffs last year. Shelden isn't close to performing like that.

^But Shelden didn't put himself in a stupid situation that cost him the first two months of the season...Baby needs to earn his minutes back...

I'm more than happy to change his nickname to Big Idiot, but that's not too politically correct. Big Baby I'm still against. (lol)

Glen will "slash" to the basket. Okay its more like rumbling - but he does get in there and throw his weight around on drives - plus the guy generally does hustle and throw his weight around on putbacks. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't call him a "post" player - but he doesn't just stand out at the three point line.

See about half his shots are from "inside" - again he isn't Powe but he does get in there and mix it up.

Davis will sure help the team. But I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up taking some minutes from Sheed. While I'm happy that Davis will be back soon, there is no reason to just sit Shelden Williams on the bench either.

I know he doesn't camp out on the perimeter...my point was his most effective offense comes from jumpers, and only when there isn't anyone in front of him who can out-jump him (which is damn near everyone in the league)

Big Baby is his nickname and Wyc and coaches can cry about it all they want but it has already stuck. And besides, he does look like Baby Face Finster in Bugs Bunny who was a 35 year old crime boss who still wore diapers. How can you argue with a Bugs Bunny nickname?

As far as his impact on the team..... just review his production in Orlando series against most dominant big man in game. His mobility, ball handling and passing are a plus for a guy who has the size to defend Dwight Howard and Shaq.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."
