It is hard to argue with success, and Mike Brown has definitely had a successful tenure as coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. His winning percentage is among the best in the league since he became head coach of the Cavaliers (211-117 .643 winning percentage) and he has guided the Cavaliers to at-least the conference semi-finals every year since being hired in June of 2005, including the franchise's first trip to the finals in 2007.Brown's post-season winning has been nearly as good as his regular-season achievements, as he has never had a losing record in the post-season, and has an overall record of 36-24.
However, sometimes a good winning percentage isn't good enough. Expectations sometimes can make a good coach look bad. Mike Brown is obviously a good coach, but after last year's playoff loss to Orlando, there was a lot of disappointed people within the Cavaliers' franchise. It was rumored soon after the playoff loss that Brown may be on the coaching hot-seat (http://www.cleveland.com/ohio-sports-bl ... velan.html). After the Cavaliers started the season 0-2, those rumors resurfaced for a short while until the Cavaliers won 10 of their next 12 games. However, after his recent stumble concerning Zydrunas Ilgauskas (Cavs record for most games played), and not letting the long-time Cavalier set the record, by holding him out of the Dallas game on Saturday, there are once again mumblings that Coach Brown's job may be in jeopardy.
Whether his job is in jeopardy due to not meeting expectations, or whether it's in jeopardy due to the fact that some people believe that LeBron James would prefer to work with a different coach is unknown to me. However, if Brown makes it through this season, and doesn't win a championship, it is more likely than not that Mike Brown wont be the head coach of the Cavaliers for the 2010-2011 season.

We have a great record at this point in the season. If we fire him we basically are giving up already. Ill be **** pissed.
If the main reason we fire a coach is because he gave a back up a DNPCD then im going to be furious. We wont get anyone close to as good as him.

He isn't going to get fired over that....that's ridiculous to even think it. However, I'm sure that if they (the FO) is considering replacing him, that dumb*ss decisions like that one surely doesn't help his cause.

I highly doubt he is fired midseason.
Now if the Cavs don't win a ring this season I could see Brown axed next summer. With LeBron's impending FA I'm sure LBJ would have a say regarding the HC.

Fair point. It was a terrible move on his part.
However by not firing him last offseason they basically stuck themselves with him this whole year. This is the biggest season in Cavs history, and I doubt they want an interim coach to decide it when we don't have a guy like Pat Riley ready to take over. If we fire him we increase the chance that we dont win it all this season, and increase the chance we have a terribly disappointing year, and that increases the chance that LeBron leaves.
If he gets fired it will be at the end of the season. We basically have no other options at this point. I don't think the FO is considering firing him now. Our record is great, they should have nothing to complain about at this point over their decision to keep Brown on for at least another season.

I agree, I do not think he'll get axed mid-season (barring something REALLY stupid....like benching LeBron or a long losing streak...of say 10 games), however, if he doesn't win the title this year, I would be surprised if he was still in Cleveland next October.
And if he does get canned, who would be his replacement? Avery?

Cavs need to win a title this year or he could be gone. That's not real fair but I think that's the reality.

Also screw Avery Johnson. That would be a lateral or downgrade move at best.
If that's the best we can do might as well stay with Brown.

agreed, if avery is the best we can do we might as well just let lebron coach the team. Hell I would rather have Delonte coach the team than Avery...

No need to speculate because there's no way he's getting canned in this type of season... Furthermore, it all depends on what LeBron wants..
If LeBron wants him gone, he's out the door.. I think he and Bron have a solid relationship..

Re: Is Coach Mike Brown's job in jeopardy?
Its a joke to think he will lose his job before the playoffs are through. If he was going to be replaced I imagine we would try for Scott, but everyone says he is waiting for the Lakers job. Maybe, I would be open to the Czar coming back. I dunno, the options aren't spectacular right now. JVG-meh, Avery-hell no

If one of the staples of Lebron resigning is Coach Brown, Ferry will ask him first. If he resigns they will ask him if he wants another coach, if he is hesitant on resigning they will ask if it is the coach(...we can change him), if Lebron leaves they will likely change him.

Great post L&H.
LBJ is the key.
I think seriously this a big to do about nothing. Z (and LBJ) should realize Z's role and skills have changes.
But with that said;
LBJ's bud Chris J. would not surpri"z"e me as a mid season change.
Really I see nothing happening through.
Just win guys and all will be good.
