Shooting Mechanics
For the first time in his career, Brewer is working to restructure his jumper. Fans may see inconsistency in Brewer's field goal percentage but the shooting guard is spending countless hours with the coaching staff.

"We believe he can be a very good open shooter," Rambis said. "With his speed and ability to attack the basket, if you make those open shots then people run at you and then you pump fake, now you can get inside the interior of the defense. It's those concepts that he is trying to develop and break that habit that he had of always leaning back."

Brewer is beginning to see the results of a focused approach to shooting, "I'm feeling better, I had a couple of pretty good games, I only had one game where I didn't shoot it well, so it's working. It's all about staying on balance; the balance is the main thing on my shot."

I don't think he'll ever have a consistent jumper. That's what is stopping him from being a passable starter.

I seem to recall listening to an interview of Rambis before the season started on KFAN where this was discussed. Apparently they found some hitch in Brewer's shot that pushed him off-balance, and they were hoping to correct that. Rambis said with his work effort and physical tools, that it might not take very long to fix Brewer, and make him a good jumpshooter.

for a rookie, shooting mechanics is the last thing they work on i'd say. Working on learning the new offense, game speed and just learning to be a "pro" are way more important to future success, shooting will come in time. How consistent you are with your form usually shows how good of a shooter you will be. Watch Reggie Miller, Ray Allen and JJ Redick shoot, there is a reason they are so deadly accurate regardless of how pretty or ugly their motions are, their form and timing never change, on the run, spot up or leaner, its the same.

Hoilberg was working on his release. His problem is his lower body is not stable. it has a hitch and is often times not balanced. When he is set it looks good.

A lot of the problem I see with Brewer's J is that it looks different every time he shoots. The main thing is finding one that works for him, and making sure it sticks.
