If NJ gets #1 Pick...
Pacers fan here,
I was wondering if you guys do get the #1 pick and select John Wall would you be willing to trade Harris to us for an expiring contract or two?

Re: If NJ gets #1 Pick...
Only reason I asked is we need a PG and you guys would have two good ones. Think about if you get Bron in '10 then need to put players around him. 2011 when our expiring's contract is up that's a little more money to play around with...just a thought

Um, pure capspace>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>expirings.
Plus how do you think you get a young Allstar point on one of the best contracts for nothing more then expirings?

Harris is worth more than just epxiring contracts.
If NJ was going to give away Harris for cap relief (extreme long shot), they'd try to trade him to a team that has cap room in 2010 (SAC? MIN? OKC?) creating enough room to add 2 MAX free agents this summer.

Yup, basically the point I was making.
That's why I still love a Harris for Mayo swap. It'll never happen though.

Ha.. thought it was worth a shot. We desperately need another star to go with Granger and 2011 free agency doesn't look too promising.

But if you do get the #1 pick, do you trade Wall or Harris? or do you even trade either one of them? and try to play harris off the ball some too?

I think it all depends on what the FA situation is like.
The point being, even if we traded Harris, it would be for the type of player that is an impact player, yet still on a rookie contract, a la an OJ Mayo, or a top 10 2010 draft pick, or a Thadeus Young, etc., and pure capspace. Maybe even a S&T for resigned Rudy Gay and a pick.

Re: If NJ gets #1 Pick...
After this season we need this #1 pick because this is painful. That being said if we get Wall, Harris has to go they won't be good together in the backcourt.
At that point I would go for the Mayo/Harris swap.
The sign and trade for Gay I don't like unless Gay will take 8-9mil a year then I'd consider it. Not for 12-13mil.
Rudy Fernandez interests me.
If we could jump back into the lottery and nab Favors or Turner that would be awesome.
I want Yi coming off the bench next year so if we don't get Favors or can't trade Harris for a PF then I like to get D. Lee for around 8mil to man the PF for us if the Knicks won't sign him.

Re: If NJ gets #1 Pick...
Wall is the #1 pick right now. That would mean we'd probably look at moving Harris if the right deal presented itself. I could see us holding onto Harris until the deadline of next season just till Wall gets his NBA legs.
Favors is a stud. I could see us drafting him because we won't have to move Harris. It just depends really on whether the Nets think Wall is a better franchise PG prospect than Harris.
It's too early to tell.
Say no to Lee. He has no consistant jump shot and is overrated though he is a good player...he's not THAT GOOD a player.
I say we draft wall and try a S&T for Amare for Harris/Dallas's pick/Fillers since Phoenix may lose Nash this offseason too.

Nah, Nash ain't going anywhere they just signed him. I would take Lee at 8-9mil per over Amare at the max anyday. Amare isn't really that good. He plays just as much D as Lee (not much at all) Lee is the better rebounder and Amare is the better scorer. I also feel Amare is like Keyon in a way, a product of his point guard. Look at the number their not much different. I know Amare is better and I would rather have Amare over Lee but not for twice the money. Not to metion Lee is a good team player not a cry baby like Amare.
What would you guys think about Harris for Memphis 1st and Randolph. Only if their 1st is a top 5 and the guy we want is on the board (Turner, Favors, Patterson). Randolph expires after 2010 so we would then be set up for 2011 instead of 2010. Unless we end up with LBJ then things change.

Would you rather have Wall or Bosh (if he agrees to sign)? Hes being shopped around and a core of Harris/Bosh/Lopez sounds pretty good, what do you guys think?

If Bosh was willing to come to NJ, with the cap room they have, they can get him for a lot less than the #1 pick.
Look at what the sign and trade deals of UFA's have been in recent years. Most of them have been little more than a trade for nothing, just to get a TPE.

I would love Bosh but Bosh wants Miami and Miami wants Bosh.
But just for kicks if he did agree to a sign and trade in the offseason then we could probably nab him for T.Will/Dallas 1st/and our 2nd/plus expirings, and then still draft Turner/Wall that would be sweet. Maybe we swap Lee in there for our 2nd or something. And then we'd still have enough money to sign a guy for like the midlevel.
