Favors is nice, but at some point we have draft someone for need instead of most talented. I think that time is rapidly approaching. I agree Favors probably has a better future in the NBA than Turner, but Tuner makes the wolves a way better team than Favors does.

We should move Pekovic unless we could get a really good deal for one of Love or Jefferson.

As for Favors, if we our #2 we take him; we can trade him out of the #2 spot and move down in the draft or we could trade one of Love or Jefferson as well.

First 5 in the draft you always draft on talent. Even later in the draft if its a deep one like this one.

if you had too guys rated identically at different positions, would be the only time you draft on position if you have a high pick.

Pekovic in the NBA will be a good backup at best, by no means anything close to starter quality level in a serious team.

Ok. I think Pek will be a starter. For the sake of discussion lets assume Kahn loves Pekovic and listens to the demand.

Out of Love/Al who do you trade and why?

I think Pekovic's game is closer to Al's then it 's Love's. He's more of a low post player, and Kevlar is the better passer/shooter of the three.

So I trade Jefferson because of fit, and Jefferson should bring back the most.

If I had to choose I'd take Al because he has "PROVEN" to be better [Love might still catch him or surpass him but we haven't seen that.]

I also don't trade stars, who could be potential superstars, because of coaches. I always get rid of the coach before the player, unless the player is a "head case".

Jefferson was better than Love at PF and Center...Jefferson's adjust plus minus was 13 points higher than Love.

comparing Jefferson and Love:

In 2008-9 Jefferson:

'Offensive PER at Center: 26.3
Defensive PER at Center: 19.2

His PER value at center: plus 7.1

It was lower at PF

Offensive PER at PF: 17.9
Defensive PER at PF: 13.5

His PER value at PF: plus 4.5

888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888888

Love in 2008-9:

Offensive PER at Center: 22.6
Defensive PER at Center: 19.5

His PER value at center: plus 3.0

It was lower at PF

Offensive PER at PF: 17.6
Defensive PER at PF: 19.1

His PER value at PF: minus 1.6

000000000000000000000000

Jefferson adjusted plus minus in 2008-9: plus 5.04

Love adjusted plus minus in 2008-9: [minus 7.63]

By the #'s Al was solid on PF defense.

I like the potential of a front court trio of Jefferson/Aldrich/Love. Love coming off the bench a la his idol McHale. Maybe use Pekovic to land another high draft pick. I could see him fitting nice in Utah next to Okur.

2011, that double spacing is so 2001.

I laughed when I saw Wolves2011 posted the exact same post for like the 50th time, and then I laughed even harder when I saw that Gopher quoted lob in his sig. I LOVE IT! :-) You guys are my anti-drug.

I rate Al and Love somewhat equally, Al is the better player. Love has a better contract and more potential to increase his ability.

Based on this, our current ineptitude as a team is wasting more of Al's value than Love's, so it probably makes sense to trade Al before Love and hope that Love develops with the rest of our young core.

Fire Kahn because he is a BUM if he does that.

Kidding aside, gun to my head I'd trade Big Al. He'd probably net us more in return and I really like Loves all around ability and IQ. He's got that "it" factor that will make him really solid for a really long time.

If we're definitely keeping Pekovic in this scenario, I think I trade Al, since you'd get a lot more for him, his strength in the post (not rebounding as much) are covered by Pekovic, and Love fits with anyone/any system. I'd still try to add a legit 7 footer or another big with more athleticism(but more skill than Hollins).

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

A healthy Al Jefferson is much better than Love right now, but the fact that Jefferson isn't healthy makes this a tougher decision. Love's main strength on offense right now is his ability to convert a broken play, if he is able to develop a jump shot or a post game he'd be more of a factor. He also has to show he can be a passer from the high or low post. Really, there is almost no facet of his game where you could say Love is significantly better than Jefferson right now (outlet passing perhaps, for what it's worth). It should be an interesting year for him, he has a lot to prove.

We haven't seen Love in year 2 yet. It remains unknown how much he's improved.

I agree - which is why I'm a little cautious about the support he's been getting. If we project that's he's just about as good as Al now and only getting better it's a no-brainer. But the improvements a player can make from year 1 to year 2 can be strong indicators on their true NBA potential. I just feel that due to the injury there's really no way to say what kind of player Love is and might be yet. I understand the optimism from some posters, but I don't think there is any basis for an honest prediction yet. Even in a thought experiment results are dependent on the input data.

i say trade Pek. Why would we want someone with that sort of attitude on the team? if he's the second coming of Tim Duncan or something, then sure. But guy hanst proven nearly enough in europe, let alone the NBA to demand that sort of thign, and a prima donna attitude like that would not help this team get to where we want it to be.

Good hypothetical rev!
