No they have more leagues than just one.

2 will go down to the 2nd league and the two best out of the 2nd will come up into the ACB. Thats basically how all professional sports leagues in Europe work. Not only in Basketball, also in Soccer, Ice-Hockey and other sports.

You could theoretically found your own team there and make it to the 1st league if you have enough financial assistance.
In the German soccer league we have a team out of a 2000 inhabitant village whose owner is a billionaire and played for this club in his youth. He supports the team financially, built a stadium, paid new players and they've made it from like the worst league to the top.

I didn't say "simultaneously", you can kick out off the worst the first time, and the new worst the second time.

That system seems a bit to diluted and arbitrary for the NBA. The regular season and playoffs is a perfectly suitable solution to separating the weaker teams. No need to complicate it by incorporating second tier leagues with overall inferior talent. Not to mention all of the other downsides that would come with having this type of system.

At least with this system now Minnie could be losing his ass trying to win some game. I can't understand how feel the minnie's fans losing his time since early december until the next seasson.

Because the NBA is the premiere league. If the Wolves went to the D-league, and even dominated, no one would care, because it's the D-league.

Fans come not only to support their team, but to also see superstars from other teams, and to get the overall experience of the NBA. This is why attendance goes way up when the Wolves play the Cavs, Lakers, Celtics, etc. compared to games where the Wolves play the Clippers and Grizzlies.

I guarantee you that if the Wolves went to the D-league and let's say a team like the Iowa Energy took it's place, the Energy would get straight up embarrassed, and the Wolves franchise would be in shambles, despite probably winning the D-league.

This looks like a cultural difference, maybe the americans give more value to the show than the europeans ... I don't know.

The entertainment aspect is very important. But also keep in mind that there is a vast difference between the competitive level of the NBA, the D-league and even the NCAA.

The best D-league or NCAA team would likely get their collective asses handed to them by the Nets or Wolves. So in that instance is winning really that important?

As I said before, this concept of incorporating other leagues would just dilute the end product and the game would suffer greatly because of it. The current system isn't perfect at creating parity, but it's not a bad system.

Funkatron101, not are "other leagues" exactly. The small towns teams usually are jumping between different categories along the years,and if they made a good seasson some year,then they can play in the ACB. This teams work with local kids and try to play ACB with them some day.

DKV Joventut Badalona works really good with thousands of boys and always play in the ACB. Ricky Rubio, Rudy Fernández, Raul López, began to play in Badalona.

BTW, I think the last three teams of the ACB are worse than the three first of the LEB, the second league.

It's like soccer here in Brasil... Between the 20 teams of the first division, the 4 worst go down to the second division next season... I'm a Vasco da Gama fan and last year they stood in the 18st place and fell to the second division... It's strange 'cause our biggest crowd last year was like 22.000 people at the stadium, this year the team were in the 2nd division but got almost 90.000 fans in the stadium... Isn't that crazy.... BTW Vasco da Gama is the second division champion this year... \o/
