Is it really that hard to understand free agency is not happening right now? That the players aren't looking to join this year's team, but NEXT year's?
The team's been sold. It is a different owner. One who spent NBA money on a European team to bring it championships. Strangely enough that money didn't go to a bunch of guys named sven and ivan. It went to top European players that other teams couldn't afford.
NBA players and agents are not as dumb as you to think that the Nets have no future. So enjoy your hometown Knicks. I don't know why I am bothering trying to respond to you.

so let me get this straight. youre gonna sit here and tell me that next summer players like lbj, dwade, bosh, joe johnson and whoever else is out there are gonna even contemplate joining a team that just had one of the worst seasons in history if not THEE worst season in history because they are moving to brooklyn and have some welathy russian owner when instead they could sign elsewhere for just as much or even more money and have a better shot to win championships? the new owner cant spend the kind of money as he did in europe because theres no salary cap over there, in the NBA you cant just spend and spend like in europe. forget for a second that youre a nets fan and tell me if you had the choice to sign with a team next season, I DARE YOU to tell me it would be with new jersey.

because im the only one not being brainwashed by nets management? the only future this team has is well after 2010. shoot the nets might not even be good again until new jersey gets another NBA team. why doesnt anyone else see this? bruce ratner only cares about money he couldnt care less about basketball. they are not commited to winning, i feel sorry for all of you and the nets players.
...And Bruce Ratner won't be our owner in a few months. Look, we have a new owner coming in WHO LIKES TO SPEND, we have a new beautiful arena coming, we have solid young talent all still developing, we have a very high draft pick coming, we have cap space. What more do you want? Yes, we are bad, but we are not as bad as you think now and in the future. Get the sand out of your vadge and understand this. If not, honestly we don't need 16 Nets fans. We'll do fine with 15 if you're gone.
yes he does like to spend. but be prepared to see nikoli petrokov coaching the team while sven ardensol and ivan szhiloti run the fast breaks. the guy said himself he wants to bring russian talent both in coaching and playing to the NBA. and to your points. the beautiful arena is in conjuction with the nets leaving new jersey, youre supposed to like the nets because they are your home team. if the nets move to brooklyn that means the knicks are closer to being the home team. the last time the nets had such a high draft pick how well did that work out? if it werent for jason kidd then kenyon martin would be mediocre at best. the cap space means absouletley nothing if nobody wants to play hear. thats the point im trying to get across. there is no commitment to winning. the owners just want to save money and think that will bring in big name players. WRONG! not gonna happen. so keep buying into everything rod and them are telling you. "oh i thought we played high energy tonight". yeah high energy big deal rod, how many wins has that turned out to be? kiss the 2010 free agency class goodbye.
I live in North Carolina. This part of your argument is flawed when speaking to me. Plus, do all Laker fans live in the greater Los Angeles area? What's wrong with you this week man? Your blood-suger too low?
If I recall, last time Nets had a top draft pick, we made the finals in the 2nd season and 3rd season with that draft pick. We made a big trade for Kidd too. This summer could potentially be a very similar offseason, yet you fail to realize this. Plus, we have more talent on this roster currently than the pre-kmart/kidd era did by a long shot.
You really need a reality check. By reality check, hand in your Nets Fan ID card and go be a Knicks fan.

which is why i said "if it wasnt for jason kidd then kenyon martin would be mediocre at best". i dont care what anyone tells me. nets management f'ed up big time. theyre all idiots. and the only lakers fans outside of l.a are front runners or were persuaded by their parents who grew up in l.a to like the lakers. oh and i would be a utah jazz fan long long before i ever supported the knicks.

Yeah but you're completely ignoring the resemblence of this summer to the year we got Kmart and Kidd. We have much better young talent in place than that summer. If we land the #1 pick, it looks more like the summer as well. You clearly do not see the big picture. Instead of a complete rebuild like Portland is close to completing after a few years (p.s. they also wanted to build from within and NOT SPEND MONEY. Both our team and Portland were being cheap. Maybe different reasons, but still CHEAP which you clearly don't get), you want to win a few games here or there. If you read the transcript to Kiki's press conference, you will notice that they are starting to down play this summer and are actually starting to think about summer 2011 that we'll spend. We'll have less competition that summer and writers are already starting to mention the possibility of Mello, who was drafted by Kiki.
Bottom line. The next 2 years are rebuilding. We are finally doing it the correct way: Developing talent, not signing people to bad contracts for the sake of trying to compete (see: Post finals years with us). You do not see the big picture in any capacity. You are only focusing on our losing streak, the biased media coverage in the metropolitan area that ignores we've played with less than 10 guys dressed for 15 straight games (A large amount without starters or our #2 scorer from a year ago) and an owner that doesn't want to spend. The owner won't be around within 3 months, the team will be healthy by the end of the month. We still will have an excellent chance at landing the #1 pick.
You never know, we could land #1 and draft John Wall, trade Devin/Dallas's pick/fillers for a quality PF to play next to Brook and be just fine with enough cap room to still go after a guy like Mello in 2011.
Big Picture Buddy!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!! i see the big picture but YOU dont see the truth. nobody that has elite status is going to come here if the nets are this bad. the nets could have done 2 or 3 little things to help those chances. i could understand not trading for stephen jackson but it would have been a nice addition. not signing iverson is understandable but come on not even a phone call? but what really really put me over the top was not even interviewing ewing for coach. who wouldnt want to play for ewing? the guy is a hall of famer and has done exceptional in coaching young centers. so instead of looking at a team with a nice young core, iverson and/or jasckon, and ewing as coach, they are looking at nice young core and a historically bad team.

well ill tell you this much. it has more bearing than just a big contract for a horrible team. iverson has some issues but hes respected around the league. on the olympic team he got along very well with everybody and had good chemistry. am i really the only one who thinks harris and iverson would be deadly? but it doesnt matter because its understandable not signing him. but i would have at least expected to see some interest based on how bad this squad is. its things like that which lead me to believe that management has no commitment to winning. im done arguing its all pointless. you have your opinions and i have mine.

Seriously get over yourself. AI and Ewing - what year is it again?
BTW real classy bringing religion into this.

you're taking this way too far...
#1...the Nets are truly in a rebuilding mode...deal with it...some believe this is right way to rebuild...I would say for it to work, you have to get lucky in the draft and it starts with the lottery...too many variables control the Nets having a Portland type rebuild and too many people fail to realize this...
#2...I could relate to your frustration...the Nets did just dumped VC...there were other trades at other times available...but we decided just to start over with a young group and open up as much cap room as possible...there was only two options...
#3...I wrote about there not being any guarantees...but this is organization, as a whole, is truly up in the air...something can change for the Nets any given day...as things start to solidfy, the future will become more visible...(take a deep breath and have some patience...)
#4...A big mistake...Bringing religion/race into the picture was uneccessaryy...it will not be tolerated, while losing repsect on this forum, you are officially tagged...and officially warned, ect...
