O.T and SAD Green stops Roy Jones Jr. in first round

Post#1 » by TonyMontana » Thu Dec 3, 2009 5:42 pm

This is really sad, did anybody watch this fight?
WOW.........Jones was a beast and who would've known that this guy would've K.O Jones. I think its time for Jones to hang it up.
Why do these athlethes never retire when they are great or on top of their game? They just stick around and kill their legacy by getting beat by a nobody. But Green is actually a great fighter. His 28-3 with 24 K.Os

SYDNEY -- Australian Danny Green stopped Roy Jones Jr. in the first round of their IBO world cruiserweight title fight Wednesday, preventing the 40-year-old American from claiming his ninth title across five weight classes from middleweight to heavyweight.

The 36-year-old Green retained his title and improved to 28-3 with his technical knockout over Jones at the Acer Arena, in the American's first professional fight on foreign soil in his 20-year career.

It was only Jones' sixth loss since 1989, along with 54 wins, 40 by knockout.

Green floored Jones with a right hand to the head after one minute. Green moved in to apply more pressure, and following a series of blows, English referee Howard Foster stopped the bout after just 122 seconds.

Jones offered no excuses for a defeat which could signal the end of his career.

Boxing is not what it used to be. It has become boring. We talk hoops here.

You're crazy boxing is the most exciting it's been in a long time. Everything is poised for a Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight.

Naaaaaaaa brah........... You shouldve seen it live. The first solid shot to the temple jacked him all up and then he was dazed, he did shake him.

The problem I had with this fight was the way Green kept on hooking/cupping the back of Roys head and punching him while he was cupping his head with his left hand. THATS ISH IS ILLEGAL and they should've warrned Green but the reff was focusing on Roy more than Green cause Roy was dazed and he didnt want to stop the fight. B.S

The only thing holding boxing up is Mayweather vs Pacman.

Roy should have retired long time ago. He never wanted to face the fact he has been past his prime foe a long time.

I love UFC but lets be honest it gets old when it turns into a hugging match

I would like to see a UFC w/ 30 second max take downs only. KEEP THE BLOWS COMING
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!
