Tyrus Thomas?

Gomes + Cardinal + Bobs pick?

Thomas + J. James + Johnson?

We save $1 million from Gomes next year, get a look a Ty Thomas for the remainder of the year, and get Johnson to take Gomes' minutes.

They get two capable 3 pt shooters in Gomes + Cardinal (instead of Harrington) and replace Johnson (who will be stuck backing up Deng anyway) with a pick next year. I actually think Cardinal would be an asset for them since their front court is so thin.

I don't think either side would do it.

No love for a look at Thomas? We get a shot blocker to back up our bigs and someone who excels in running the break.

He's a smallish PF, and I'm don't put much value in a look at him. He's received enough playing with the Bulls that we should have a good idea of what he's about. We either want him long term or we don't.

I'd like him, but he gets in the way of our free agent plans. His cap hold is huge too, if he was making late 1st rounder money it'd be something to explore

That's a good point.

How much do you think Thomas gets in free agency this summer?

Tyrus Thomas might be short, but I'd hesitate to call him undersized.

He has a 7'3 wingspan, a 9'0 standing reach, and a 39.5 inch max vertical. The average PF in the DX database has a 7'1 wingspan, an 8'10.5 standing reach, and a 32.8 inch vertical.

He's a bit on the lean side, but I don't think this is a serious problem. He also likes to play facing the basket and has a midrange jumper. He would probably be a good fit with our current personnel given his shot blocking ability.

The fact that he's 100% insane, on the other hand...

I'd still take a chance on him.
