MIN/POR/TOR
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi ... available/
MIN in:Rudy Fernandez, Steve Blake (expiring), Amir Johnson (expiring)
MIN out: Ramon Sessions, Ryan Gomes
Why for MIN:
Obtain Rudy Fernandez and valuable cap space to push us into MAX contract range.
POR in:Ramon Sessions, Ryan Gomes, Antoine Wright (expiring)
POR out:Rudy Fernandez, Steve Blake, Andre Miller
Why for POR:
They move Miller who isn't working out in POR, and gain a replacement in addition to the solid Ryan Gomes to replace Fernandez.
TOR in: Andre Miller
TOR out: Amir Johnson, Antoine Wright
Why for TOR:
They give up cap space (only delay it by one year), but gain a starting caliber PG to pair with Bosh and Barngani. Cap Space is less valuable for TOR this year as they can go over to re-sign Bosh, and they wouldn't be a player this year in FA if Bosh leaves. There are too many other destinations, better to be the big fish in the pond next year.

Portland would never do this in a million years. The fans love Rudy!
And if they had wanted Sessions, they would have signed him last year when he would have just cost cap space.

Many spanish media are saying that Rubio and Fernández was talking by telephone about this trade. More information here

If we somehow manage to trade for Rudy Pau Gasol might also come over here in a couple years for the vet minimum and we can dominate with the spanish connection

Portland would need a bottle of whiskey and a pieces of leather to bite on during this beating.

Re: MIN/POR/TOR
It's not posible, it's a conversation with words sounding like rudy and ricky, like the movie Airplane! conversation between the pilots in the cabin (give me the vector, Victor).
Basically Ricky inquire to Rudy about NBA, and he tell a lie saying it's wonderful and he is in a party with 224 cheerleaders, and then he recognize that he is bored but he got a lot of money.
At last, he says that Ricky will be Rookie-Ricky. This sounds ridiculous here.

huh, I guess I underestimated the love afair with Rudy. I don't view him as THAT different than Gomes, especially when they have an all-star playing in his natural position already.
As far as the second point goes, I think POR signed Miller initially for that vetran presence, but he doesn't seem to be working out. Sessions is now on a long term good value contract, so I would think his value is just as good, especially to an established team like POR.

I need to spread this message.
Its all about timing. At the time POR was looking for a PG, they didn't know that Sessions would end up carrying that gorgeous $3.67 mil contract. Some people even thought Sessions might only accept an offer for more than the MLE. IfIf they were spending that kind of coin, they went with the veteran Andre Miller.
Moreover, they didn't know that Andre Miller and Brandon Roy would butt heads. Players trade value changes over time, whether its through their play, or because new factors affect their price, like injury or a new contract. After-the-fact financial moves is just as illogical as after-the-fact draft picking ("MIL wouldn't trade Joe Alexander for Brook Lopez because they passed on him!"). Player values change over time.

Re: MIN/POR/TOR
I agree that POR needs more, but this isn't a bad start.
Sessions wouldn't be the worst idea as a replacement for Andre Miller. His contract is nice, he'd appreciate playing with POR's young, successful team, and he'd play some defense for them. Moreover, Gomes may be useful as well, with Outlaw out for most of the season.
They like Rudy at about the same value as we like Flynn, so maybe guage our outgoing trade value based on what we'd want for Flynn.

We'd have to overpay to get Rudy Fernandez. I think you should make a shot for Courtney Lee of the New Jersey Nets. The fans over there are not very high on him at all, but they are trying to be relevant in the 2010 free agency. He was an absolute sharp shooter in Orlando, but he isn't even a starter in New Jersey.

I would love to get Lee. He's a great shooter and defender. Lets give them Brewer.

And fans in general (from all teams, not picking on PDX) think too much with their hearts and not enough with their heads. They got Brandon freaking Roy. This situation is reminiscent of Luis Scola being stuck behind Tim Duncan in San Antonio. Using Rudy to help procure a quality PG makes perfect sense.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. They didn't and now they have the Andre Miller mess and still need a better starting PG.

Re: MIN/POR/TOR
How about a Min/Por/Mem
MN in: R. Fernandez, Steven Hunter (exp), and Jerryd Bayless
MN out: Gomes, Sessions
Mem in: Andre Miller, R. Gomes, T. Outlaw
Mem out: Jaric, R. Gay, and Steven Hunter
Por in: Sessions, R.Gay, M. Jaric
Por out: R. Fernandez, J. Bayless, A. Miller, T. Outlaw
MN: get Rudy F and J. Bayless and even more cap room
Mem: get a PG which they desperately need, they will lose R. Gay anyway, and Gomes and T. Outlaw would be great complements to A. Miller and OJ Mayo with Outlaw resigning for a lot cheaper than what Gay will command. Also Jaric is addition by subtraction.
Por: starting lineup of Sessions, Roy, Gay, Aldridge, and Oden. Their owner is rich and would match any offer for Gay. They lock up 3 players (Roy, Gay, and Aldridge) for a long time just as they are entering their prime and also the best 3 players from that draft.

Re: MIN/POR/TOR
I'd rather not giftwrap the pieces to push Portland over the top just to pick up Rudy, who can shoot a bit and do nothing else.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.
