magic sac trade
what about a trade between magic and kings
gortat to the kings and nocioni to the magic???
gortat is unhappy playing only 5 minutes and he's a great defensive center, what we need
nocioni stop the growth of greene and casspi and could improve magic's bench.
thoughts??

Orlando has a lot of wing players, like the Kings. They shouldn't trade for Nocioni. Gortat would help a lot though.
By the way, I'm known for my magic sac and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I could see this happening. Noc would fit in well with orlando and gortat would be perfect for us.

But with Gortat and room for Casspi and Donte to grow we'd be set as a team. The Kings would be bringing Gortat in to play a huge part for the team and I think that would justify the length of the contract.

How on earth can you say that Gortat is an average overpaid player and say that Beno, Nocioni, and Garcia aren't.

Because all three of those players have produced at a certain level whereas Gortat really hasn't. You can say that Beno, Noc are overpaid, whatever, but Gortat easily is a worse contract that either. 5 years at the FULL MLE for a guy that rebounds a few and blocks a shot or two and gives you very little else. I understand big men are more at a premium and that eases the contract some, but that just makes it a non-Jerome Jamesesque contract.
All I would offer is Beno for Gortat(for roster balance purposes), and even then, I think we're getting screwed in the talent aspect of the trade.

Re: magic sac trade
eh dunno. I think Gortat can be a pretty good pickup, but I'm liking what Noci brings to the team. He has been hitting some clutch three's and his pest-style defense has been very helpful. I say keep him, unless we get a great trade somewhere down the line.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

Let's talk about how Gortat would fit into our system. His skills are: rebounding, man defense, _________. His deficiencies are: passing, shooting, ________. Fill in the blanks, because I don't know everything about this guy.
Personally I think that his performance here would be affected negatively because he can't really shoot or pass. But considering what he would bring on the side of rebounding and especially interior one on one defense, I'd look the other way because I think it would really benefit the team in the minutes he would be playing.

Re: magic sac trade
I question the smarts of bringing in a player who isn't too happy with the minutes he is playing to play behind two young guys who take up the majority of the minutes at the only position (Center) that he is capable of playing.
And it IS a lot of money for what he brings. I'd sooner go for a better player or a cheaper one in the off-season that brings the same with less demand. Also, a guy who is a little older and more keyed in to being a role player (as KT has shown this season so far) is really what we need now.

Re: magic sac trade
He's not bad scoring around the basket. The impression that I got last year was that he was basically a poor man's Dwight, kinda. With the right minutes (i.e. as a 3rd big here), he could be a much more valuable player than he has been in Orlando this year.

It's a little different though. He wouldn't be playing behind Dwight, but behind Spencer and Jason. If we essentially cut Brock and Kenny out of the rotation, he could get near starter's minutes.

He also might start, Gortat brings something this team hasn't had in its rotation big men for a very long time, muscles.

Am I the only one that finds Gortat a bit overrated?
Yeah yeah, he played solidly during the playoffs but I get the impression that he is only a solid role player and not a starter for any team. Is he better than a guy like Joel Przybilla? I much rather him than Gortat IMO.

Role players and starters aren't mutually exclusive.

Gortat doesn't strikes me as a legitimate starter-level player though. I don't know. I can be wrong.

REALLY? I mean he's Dwight's back-up. He should be seeing 12-20 minutes a night.

I like Jeff Foster more than Gortat.

Re: magic sac trade
DENIED !
1st of all Gorat is average & overpaid for an average player !
2nd the topic is not who is overpaid on the KINGS is it ? If it were i would be inclined to agree with you on 1 or 2 of the names you mentioned that said again the topic is Gorat not who is on the KINGS roster ! I for 1 do not want any average player with an overpaid contract !
I for 1 dont want a scrub on our team & I for 1 would love to see a great trade for the KINGS but i dont want to trade just for the sake of trading !
Anytime a trade is done it should be for the greater good of the team for years to come.....
