Diaw and Augustin

Post#1 » by amcoolio » Sat Dec 5, 2009 4:15 am

Biggest turnaround in performance ever from one season to the next?

I mean, what the hell happened to these two. Just garbage, pitiful play all around this season.

I don't get it. Diaw just got raped in tonights game. LB not putting in Augustin means that Augustin just has zero confidence as well.

I'm ready to ship out both honestly at this point, because we need serious help at the 4 spot.

Diaw's play actually hasn't dropped off that much from last season. Before the Jackson trade, he was playing better than anyone on our team. Augustin's play has been a flat out mystery. Never saw this coming. I wish he could just play through his struggles, but I guess LB's decided he rather see Flip make a fool of himself (and in turn make a fool of our team) than let his young point guard get some burn and develop.

For me, moving Diaw all comes down to who your moving him for. Yes, we could definitely do better at power forward, but we could also do a lot worse.

Phoenix fans told us Diaw was most effective the season Amare was out and he was always established in the high post. This allowed P&R, P&P and P&D opportunities. Useless Tyson Chandler constantly sets horrible picks all over the court (and isn't a threat to do anything afterward) and the post and wings have become more crowded after the Jackson trade.

DJ's "defense" is keeping him off of the court. I'm worried that he'll totally fall out of LB's favor (or already has), which sucks because by all accounts his selection was Brown's alone. I firmly believe he's in a slump because LB has him on a short leash since he's not a rookie anymore. Looking at his hotspots, I feel confident that NBA teams haven't game planned against him, he's just not making his shots right now.

THAT SAID, I'd entertain a trade idea with either one of them or the two of them as a package if it would return equal value without including an awful contract.

I'd like to think that there was some other reason why Brown didn't play Augustin, because it'd be pretty stupid to pull a guy who has motivation to play against this team (ie, I'm sure he hears about fans bitching about passing over Lopez to draft him). Augustin scored 21 points in the last game against the Nets.

Maybe Augustin didn't get time because we are just so loaded in the backcourt. Or maybe Brown forgot to list Augustin as one of the players available for tonight's game because he was too busy being Iverson's PR guy.

Who was it that this happened to during the Vincent era?

Diaw's not playing much worse than last year. He's slashed his turnover rate, which compensates a bit for his slightly worse shooting.

DJ, on the other hand, has completely fallen off the cliff. He's worse than last year at literally everything except for steals. I don't know if you could really move him for anything at this point, the only hope is that he shoots his way back out of this vicious slump.

I have to think he didn't forget how to play, or totally get gameplanned against (whatever that really means... it's not like he had a magic trick to score last year). He'll right the ship.

It's kind of ironic that the night Lopez drops like 30 on us DJ gets the ol' "DNP - COACHES DECISION"

I'm on board with that, and get a big PF to establish the post on offense, defense and rebounding. I doubt we could move a crap contract out (Diop) in concert with these 2. Brand has a bad contract, but he seems to be the most eligible for this spot at the moment.

Looks like Bonnell thinks that a package of Diaw and DJ is the way to go. Says it is an educated guess, not a prediction. But I would not be surprised if he knows something is brewing and is throwing that out there so he looks smart. That is my "educated guess".

I'd love to deal Diaw and DJ for David Lee and Jefferies but I don't see that happening. Frankly we should see what Law can contribute at the 1. Brand is most available and perhaps we could get a draft pick out of the deal also.

So you want a 1 year rental of Lee - a guy who is horrible on the defensive end to boot?

You want to go down that path then at least be smart about it and target someone like Collison.

And now you just want to "see" if Law can contribute at the 1? Don't you think if he could he would have already on one of the THREE teams he has already played on in only FOUR years in the NBA?

Hey, we probably have Burleson's number in the black book. We could always "see" if he can contribute. Or "Lil Sean". We can "see" what he can contribute. McInnis? Get him on the phone. Pity the Wiz snapped Boykins up already...............

(1) Lopez cried on draft night.
(2) Lopez allowed the awful Chandler to have his best game of the season.

Reason enough for me not to want him!

I cried on draft night too. But for me it happened in 2006.

:o :-? :-? :o This is a stetch but Minnesota Has Mark Blout 7 ft 250 lb center/power forward not playing and that has one year 7.3 left on contract. Do you think they would trade him and 2010 1st round pick(top 3 protected) for Augustine and Diop? Trade checker 5312924. They get a a top 10 draft point with upside and a defensive center to back up Love and we get a body to play 4 with Diaw and Brown and a 2010 /later 1st round pick back

They just signed Sessions in the off season and drafted Flynn AND Rubio. Why would they want another PG?
