Re: GM a Dynasty - Discussion Thread
I'm more than happy to help, but I'd prefer it be on a "fielding emails and problems as they arise" basis rather than an actual "you've got a commitment to help here and here" basis. I'm absolutely swamped for a few more weeks, then I've got about four weeks where I'm only working 60 hour a week w/ no school, then the worst five months of my life.

Re: GM a Dynasty - Discussion Thread
Ok, so I do still exist.
Problem is, having moved house, the internet company has decided to jerk me around and as such I still have no connection. Probably for a few more days at least. My sincerest apologies if I've held anything up, but as most of you know already, it's quite hard for me to access the internet from work.
If I'm up in the draft and not active Cellar can take BPA for me. Hopefully I'm back up and running soon.

Also anyone interested in the number 2 pick and a later 1st round pick?
Will trade for a future pick still good players available right now Turkoglu, Martin, and Crawford.

Re: GM a Dynasty - Discussion Thread
all valid questions.
I think we are trying to get through this hideous draft and then reassess.

Re: GM a Dynasty - Discussion Thread
Ok, sorry I haven't been around much but I'm back for a bit, still busy though.
At this point I think the game is dying/dead and it was just to long and ambitious to begin with. Sambone has been doing an exceptional job in my absence but its just to big of a commitment for most posters as we've seen.
I propose letting the game R.I.P and maybe supporting the ABA/NBA game?
Whadda think?

Re: GM a Dynasty - Discussion Thread
It's possibly for the best. I've been at fault for a large part of it, and I do apologize for it. I just think a game like this is way to in depth to get through. There's just not enough time to remain interested.

Re: GM a Dynasty - Discussion Thread
In the interest of cleaning up the first page, I'm going to lock dynasty related threads for now. I'll open them up if there's an interest in revisiting this specific incarnation of the game.

I think someone should start a new GM a Dynasty game to regain interest?

This is actually the second of such games to try and crash....
I suspect it is an nonviable idea.

Re: GM a Dynasty - Discussion Thread
The only way this sort of game has worked on RGM is in a mold that disregards salaries as a keeper league. I'm not opposed to THAT, but I think at this point I agree with Snakebites on this specific idea.

Re: GM a Dynasty - Discussion Thread
It's just too hard unless everyone is available on a Messenger tool for Rankings/Drafting/Voting etc.
Even the Free Agency period would be too lengthy. It's a great idea, but it's like trying to play an Xbox game on a messenger board imo.

Pretty much. Fantasy drafts for the NBA take 2 hours. Drafts for each individual year on these take 2-4 days if you're lucky. It's a tough sell.

One of the big problems with GM a Team IMO is the lengthy draft that wastes entirely too much time(and some still insist on doing it the antiquated time slot method) followed by FA that also wastes entirely too much time. Now add in 9 more drafts and there ya go.
If there was a way to streamline things(like sending the commish a draft list, yeah right) THEN it may have a shot in a future incarnation.

the crux of the biscuit is the apostrophe
