Guys- Longtime Minnesota T-Wolves fan here. I have just received word, that our brillant Team President is actually discussing a deal that would send Forward Corey Brewer to the Los Angeles Lakers. Sounds ok, right? Get this, Minnesota , even after Kahn said he wouldn't trade him is actually considering dealing Ricky Rubio as well. What would the deal consist of I'm hearing from a source close to Rambis(who is a diehard Laker at heart), the deal would look like this
To Lakers:
Ricky Rubio, Corey Brewer
To Minnesota
Jordan Farmar(expiring), Adam Morrison(expiring), 2 first round picks, a 2nd round pick in 2010, and a trade exception worth nearly 3M in cap space.
Supposedly, Rambis has talked to Kahn about Farmar and Morrison and both working well with his implimentation of the triangle he has here. They don't want to wait for 2011 when Rubio can POSSIBLY come over here. So basically, we get all of this for Corey Brewer. However, if this happens, waych how fast FC barcelona will let Rubio out of his contract.
What do you guys think about this?I see some positives with this:(i.e., cap space, some young talents, a couple of nice 1st rounders), but the issue I have is Rubio...this guy could be a total Nicholez Tzisvilli, who was drafted near the same range, but sucked royally. Or he could turn out to be Steve Nash 2.0. though. We do know that the Lakers would lose 2 key players of theres, for a guy who might not even fit into their system.
I am torn on this, but I'm starting to thinking though it might prove better for us in the longtern, especially if Rubio doesn't live up to the hype.

Re: Lakers-Minnesota in Trade Talks? WTF?
I'd be shocked if David Kahn reversed his position on both players so quickly, in six months for Rubio and a month since Brewer's extension.
The Laker package is very weak. Their pick is late, and I suppose we'd have to hope the one in two years would improve, but if the Lakers can keep pumping money in their team, I doubt it. They own the MEM 2nd. I believe their TPE is only $2.5 mil from Chris Mihm, and a TPE doesn't help us nearly as much as it'd help a team over the lux.
I think this would be a pretty bad deal, and David Kahn hasn't made any bad deals yet.

Re: Lakers-Minnesota in Trade Talks? WTF?
Its interesting this would come up now, at the same time the post at the bottom appeared on the Trade Board. Its very rare to see Brewer trades there, and even rarer to see one posted so eloquently, and with a good description of Brewer and his worth to the Lakers. I'll reprint it:
Jajwanda wrote:Around 2007-2008 and also at the beginning of last year the Lakers featured a smaller, fast lineup off the bench that could shoot fairly well, play frustrating quick defense and score in the open court as well as feed the two starting caliber big men on the floor. I think the Lakers are one player away from that again.
Minnesota: Corey Brewer+Jason Hart
Los Angeles Lakers: Morrison+Memphis 2nd+Knicks 2nd+cash to make up the difference in salary
Why for Minnesota: Brewer just has not fit in as a starter and can't create his own offense well enough to play on a team devoid of scoring talent. Kahn wants to open cap room in 2010 as far as I've heard and would save money next year while adding two very high second round picks, arguably worth as much as two first round picks considering the differences in salary.
Why for Los Angeles: Brewer's cost next year is fair at 3.5m and he'd be the backup at large SG and undersized SF. We'd try to make him into our next Trevor Ariza. There's plenty to work with as far as Brewer goes and he'd match Farmar and Shannon Brown's speed.

Re: Lakers-Minnesota in Trade Talks? WTF?
It dawns on me that LAL doesn't even own their 2010 pick (MEM does), so this deal would be a 2012 and a 2014?
Not very likely.
And wouldn't just about any team offer more for Rubio, than the win-now Lakers?

Prolly the worst deal we could get for Rubio
2 late firsts, a 2nd and mediocre Adam Morrison for Rubio and Brewer? Not gonna happen.
This would force me to quit being a Wolvesfan

I am a Wolves fan, ever since they got Kevin Garnett in 1995. I love the team, however I am just passing along information that I hear. I agree, I would be shocked if Kahn did this, but I think Rambis is trying to use his influence on this. Do remember when they tried to get Garnett from us, and they offered Bynum, Odom , Farmar and a 1st and stupid McHale...said NO, because of his loyalty to Boston. Kurt is trying to help his old team out and get them Brewer and Rubio. Watch Phil Jackson turn Brewer into Trevor Ariza 2.0. If that happens, I think we are all in deep trouble for a while. If they get Rubio on top of it, while keeping Kobe, Lamar, Bynum, Artest and Gasol, I think I would just give up and quit. No point in competing against that God-like team.

I loved the part of the post where he called Jordan Farmar and Porn Stache "key players" for the Lakers.
