Mark Blount Offers

Post#1 » by JR_SMITH_23 » Sat Dec 5, 2009 11:36 pm

Sup, Wolves fans, I have a proposition for you. First off, lets consider the summer. Do you think you'll be able to draw in a top-tier FA this summer? More than likely not. What about a second tier FA like Gay? I doubt that too. So what about a quasi all-star already signed to a long-term deal, so you wouldn't have to worry about him getting away right after you acquired him. Here's my proposition.

Minnesota sends

Mark Blount
Damien Wilkins

New Orleans send

Omeka Okafor

Alternative B

Blount
Wilkins
Gomez
4
Okafor
Wright

What do you guys think?

Sorry, we already have plans to clone Michael Jordan using DNA from a napkin he once used and we're going to use our duplicating machine (it says "boink!" when you press the button) to create another Lebron, so we're set. Thanks for the effort though.

Your team is FAR from set...you can't even bring over Rubio (he doesn't want to play in Minny) If I was Minny, I would jump at every SURE move that will make my team better NOW

Um, I already told you, we have Jordan 2.0 and Lebron 2.0 coming in.

And if we didn't, I sure as hell wouldn't "jump" at a move that wastes all of the team's flexibility for moves for a bench player and a so-so underachiever on a giant long term contract so that the team can top out at 40 wins.

We know that we aren't set. But we are not paying a MLE type-talented player 60 mil. bucks over the next 4 years. You can do that for us.

Why would you doubt we could get a second tier free agent?

Don't be rude.

I think you may have a part of a trade. Send Okafor elsewhere, and have them send their stuff here.

What's the current Chris Paul offers? Who's willing to take the most salary off you?

Just a few years ago wolves fans were willing to trade the pick that brought in klove for okafor!

Did Okafor lose an arm and I didn't hear about it? I don't understand why the responses hear are so overwhelmingly negative. Okafor is a solid player and a good interior defender. Getting him for nothing but expirings sounds like a good deal.

Yeah but adding Okafor would destroy any future cap flexibility, he's a decent defender but also undersized. Kind of a C in a PF-body. I'd rather blow our cap space for a wing than for an undersized and overpayed Okafor.

Any free agent is going to blow our cap flexibility. The point of having cap flexibility to acquire players. As far as being overpaid, any free agent we sign will also be overpaid.
I agree that I'd rather have a wing. I'd also rather wait until the summer so we don't affect our pick. That way we could also use our FA money to build around our pick instead of trying to draft around our FA (or in this case, trade acquisition). Still, it's not that bad.

I think this is a great offer. Like Guts said it kind of depends on how the draft shapes up.

how he, Al & Love all get adequate minutes at PF-C though I don't know.

0 interest in Okafor. If we bring in another post player, it better be an athletic 7 footer. Okafor isn't necessarily overpaid for his talent, but he would be overpaid for what we'd need him for. Plus he has virtualy NO offensive game at all.

The original poster is a tool. Insult a franchise, then demand they swallow your cap issues? No thanks.

I'd rather keep the cap space for either signing a wing, or trading for one.

This might be palatable if Okafor was the final move for a defensive big, after we had already added at least two starter quality players at the wing through free agency or trade. Doing this now would cut out our other options.

I'd much rather get through the year, draft Turner/Wesley Johnson, then sign Rudy Gay and go after someone like Brendan Haywood as a reasonably priced defensive big.

To Minnesota
Luol Deng

To Chicago
Mark Blount
Wayne Ellington

Note about Deng's contract: His contract is 30% deferred, meaning the salary cap number is higher than the check the owner has to write.

Note #2: I basically am wondering if Minnesota would take Deng for expiring/Ellington
