I don't get it

Post#1 » by Smash3 » Sat Dec 5, 2009 12:31 am

Would it be that bad if T-mac was apart of the team? I don't get it Ariza is taking so many shots per game and shooting pretty bad. Why couldn't T-mac join and take some of those shots? Honestly we all know T-mac is better. Also his playmaking is sorely needed in some games when brooks is having a bad game. And I think they should at least give him a shot before they make some changes. Of course I would understand if they had a good deal for him, but this season he has something to prove. If not for the team, his next contract. What do you guys think should we let him go or give him a shot?

I completely agree that he should be given an opportunity to play. If he comes back and plays well yet they still want to trade him how does that not do anything but increase his trade value?

Do the coaching staff and management forget to look at the stat sheets after the game and notice how bad Ariza is shooting the ball?

He can help us, but if coach says hes not ready, hes not ready. Adelman's job is to win games, not save money, he has no hidden agenda.

That's not what I'm saying, i'm not doubting Adelman. They should wait until he's ready, then play him instead of shopping him without seeing what he's good for.

We can all pretend to be experts and try to understand the Team. Truth is that none of us know what is happening behind the scenes. Morey and Adelman has been there with the team, with Tmac all these years, they know better than any of us. If they don't think Tmac is ready or that his return is constructive to winning then.... i'm going to side with management and coaching 99.9% of the time.

If it's TRULY their concern for McGrady returning to 100%, THEN playing him, I'm fully on board with the decision. If it's not the case, I'd think he deserves a chance to play, otherwise he should be shipped out to not create a further distraction. We can't just Marbury him, or let him expire, because he's bound to start complaining soon - if the Rockets intention is to really not play him even if was ready.

I think there is a grand plan for T-mac yet to unfold. Probably a trade in the near term. I think they want to make sure he can be traded with no impairments or defects that would void a trade.

What I'm curious about is this:
Let's say -god forbid- Ariza gets injured against the Blazers tonight and will be out for 3 weeks. Will T-Mac play then? If he does, do they bench him again after the 3 weeks?

Sources say McGrady has started to wonder whether the Rockets want him back with this team, or whether they’ve been motivated to let him sit and collect on insurance money. Assuming that McGrady is covered under the NBA’s Temporary Total Disability (TTD) insurance policy, Houston can start to collect up to 80 percent of his prorated per-game salary after he’s missed 41 consecutive games. McGrady sat out his 42nd straight game Wednesday in Minnesota, and the league insurance plan would reimburse the Rockets for any additional missed games.

For the rest of the season, the insurance policy could cover 80 percent of his per-game salary of $282,946. Even if McGrady returns to the lineup for one or more games this season, the insurance would still pay the Rockets for each additional missed game. The insurance company can identify 12 exclusions to the policy among particularly high-risk NBA players, but can only do so at the time a new contract is signed. McGrady signed his three-year, $63 million extension in November 2004.

TMac might come back and get to 75% of his old self... but by the time that happens the season will be over. Playing TMac so that he gets back in game shape only helps him. Him rehabilitating on the court isn't going to help the team.

TMac isn't worth anywhere near what he is making. At least if he stays on the bench he can help the team get back some of the millions it lost investing in him.

Saw this over at CF.

"Tell me if you gonna play me. I'm still a Rocket player. If you not gonna play me then tell me that. You know I'll respect that but I don't respect just having me wonder what's going on. Nobody is really communicating with me. I wanna get out there with my guys..great group of guys.. great teammates.. i just wanna help them compete every night."

The source is apparently skillzlab, but there's no link, so dunno the validity of the quote.

McGrady put the Rockets out of their misery by just shutting himself down and allowing them to move on. Morey and Adelman don't have to play him but they should make it clear to him what their plans are. I am sorry but nobody in the NBA should be in limbo the way McGrady is. Nobody has done anything to deserve not knowing what their team wants from them.

I usually share similar opinions with you about McGrady. Personally, I keep telling myself that this can't possibly end like this. No way, we gotta see what Mac can do with this team with Yao out. Rockets are a team over the luxury tax, so they are colleting checks until Mac is REALLY ready to play full speed every game. You know Mac isnt going to want to come back slowly.

However, as far him being mistreated and its not fair to him. I call BS on that. Mac had a terrible year last season. In and out of games and heavy rumors of him being traded for B-Diddy. And we all know you pretty much can't trade a player if he's hurt. Very rarely does that happen ala Cuttino going to NY. Mac opted for MAJOR surgery and went public with it before even teling his teammates, coaches, or the entire organization. That is not cool.

As much as I hate to say it or believe it cause I love T-Mac but McGrady may have dug his own grave here in Houston. I hope I'm wrong though.

Seems like T-Mac could play next week now, he and Adelman on similar terms.

He shut himself down right before the trade deadline and didn't even tell the team he was opting for surgery. Mac deserves all this and more.
