And when I say being drama queens ... I mean..after every win..were so positive so happy...but then as soon as we lose ...a lot of us on here are ready to freak out and say...We suck...2 steps forward one step back..We not elite...Arenas sucks...Caron sucks...Were gonna be such and such a record...stop that ****....an NBA season is a marathon not a sprint...we did well to win 4 of 5 now we to just start another streak...one game at a time....
We on this board need to be on an even keel.. We all need to take the emotion out of our posts...because when you post wit emotion you tend to sound very irrational...and make silly statements...I was cursing the ref`s, the players, the tv everything during and after the game...but after I cooled off I posted what I had to post...I was then thinking more clearly...

Ok, I understand what you meant and I don't necessarily disagree with your main point. I am sorry for being sarcastic in my post. I too think its silly to flip flop from being overly postive to overly negative based on one win or one loss. However, there are a lot of people on this board that, just like me, are no longer buying what the Wizards organization is selling (i.e., that we can be a contender by building around the big 3). I've been just as critical of the Wizards during wins (see my comments on the Bucks game when I said we were lucky to win that game) as losses. And, my criticism has been the same. Over the last 4-5 years, this team, with the big 3 as our core, has always taken horrible quick shots, has always played below average defense, has always lacked mental and physical toughness, and has always played up against good teams and down against bad teams. They have the individual talent to win any given game and beat anyone, but they don't have the killer instinct and mental toughness to ever be an elite team. And, again, I'm not basing my comments on one game...I'm basing my comments on watching this team for the last several years.

I know you guys lost, but you played us pretty hard in the middle quarters and Arenas looked pretty good that game. Tough knock on the final possession.
Good to see Gil looking like his old self for the most part. Even with a brutal first quarter, it took a monster game from our guy to beat you guys. Good game.

Yes, Boykins should not have been in at all when Toronto had 4 seconds left on the shot. Calderon had the easy pass to Turk for the tie. I couldn't believe my eyes.
Like I said in the chat. Flip is better then EJ but he still hasnt dialed it in all the way. He has made some good situational move on the rotation but he still have room to get better.
I personally was frustrated he didnt do I would call.. a better job..on the rotations.
Like when he pulled Haywood for Blatche the previous game. For that he got lots of props. Well, he deserves some blame for not doing better this game. While he put in Blatche and DMAC for D to send us into over time ( blatche defended the overtime missed shot ) but then he didnt go back to that for the over time until the last play he had blatche in. And Blatche almost got us into the second over time had he not been fouled by having his jersey pulled which got him off balanced falling backward.
Flip just wasnt willing to make the tough moves to give the team their best chance to win.
But I have hope for him still.
As far as I'm concerned, Flip's oblivious to the possibility that the Wizards are much better with Blatche at PF and a Haywood or McGee at C than they are with Jamison at PF. Because of this, Blatche isn't getting enough minutes and neither is McGee.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.

I agree that Blatche is getting way too few minutes. He should play at least 28 minutes per game. Just bring him in with 2-3 minutes left in the first and third and leave him until the end of each half.
Objectively, it's pretty hard to argue that anybody deserves to play ahead of him except Wood and Jamison. I'd make sure I'd got Blatche his minutes before worrying about the minutes of Butler, DMac, Oberto or McGee.

nate, I think Jamison should start at SF and Blatche should start at PF. Caron should be the sixth man.

I don't really disagree when looking purely at on-the-court factors. I like the Jamison/Blatche/Haywood frontcourt too. But I don't think it's worth the disruption in the locker room that would likely ensue if Butler were benched.
Butler's problems are with him trying to find his role. There's nothing wrong with Butler's effort. Butler's commitment to defense deserves some respect and I think it would be a real slap in the face to bench him after all the work he has put in. I'd rather be patient and see if Butler can work things out offensively. He has had a few decent games in a row now, maybe he's turning the corner. Besides, there's no reason to bench Butler. What matters is that Blatche get the 28-30 minutes he deserves. Blatche can still get plenty of minutes off the bench. All Flip has to do is make sure he brings Blatche in for one of his starting forwards relatively early in the 1st and 3rd quarters.

Re: Wizards vs. Raptors GDT (Sponsored by Earl MVP Boykins)
nate, I see your point about not slapping Butler and disrupting things.
I want to see Blatche playing more minutes than Butler a lot of the time, because Caron's struggled frequently. If Flip could start Butler but give him 22 minutes games, with Blatche getting 32 when matchups dictate then I'd be happy.
Starting Butler and playing him 35 minutes regardless is what I don't like so far.
Even with Caron obviously coming out of it and getting his game going, the Wizards are screwed defensively with him and Jamison as the forwards. I'd rather see Blatche at PF much more, some how.

IMO this has been the case for years. At least this year we are seeing Haywood and Blatche on the court together. It may be hard to remember but before this year, that happened about a grand total of 20 minutes over the last 5 years.
This team over the years has been short of centers ( only Haywood ) and short of PGs ( well at least quality PGs ) AD was a close to a PG as we have had. You see this more clearly now that we have added Boykins.
We have a nice mix of talent but this isnt the final product. It could be more then it is given the talent we have. McGee is probably another year away.
Center - If we can resign Haywood we are set for the next good while with Haywood and McGee. Id still like to have a 3rd banger down here.
PF - Blatche could easily be a starter there. Between him and AJ we have that covered. Short of us getting someone like Bosh as the starter.
SF- This is the real log jam. We dont need CB 10M and AJ 13M when we can also play MM, NY and DMAC for D. AJ is a SF/PF and CB a SF/SG. Id go with the caption playing SF/PF and later 6th man.
SG - another log jam. Gil is our best SG and he should be playing at least 50% if his minutes here. SO if NY is the 2nd SG then that lets you play MM at SF so you have either AJ and MM. I think MM is your CB replacement. I dont think we need Foye. We definitely don't need DS. DMAC can be that defensive player of the bench.
PG - Boykins has shown us again the value of a true PG. I would keep him. If you can find a top notch starting PG, I would add them so Gil can play PG more. Even a top notch prospect could be interesting. Notice Flip is playing Gil at SG with Boykins to close the game.
Bottom line... I just dont see this team moving forward with AJ and CB both making what they do when we need them to both start at SF now. I think CB has to go. He used to be one of my favorite players on the team but he just doesn't fit in the grant scheme anymore.
Part to what we are seeing is a struggle because it's not clear who's team this is. This is another reason CB should probably go. AJ is most likely to clearest leader. Him and Haywood I think. Then oddly, I would say Boykins has jumped quickly into a leadership role. Gil has never really worked well as a leadership personality for this team. He is a great talent and may become a more mature leader one day but right now I dont see him as a main leader. So again, to many cooks in the kitchen so CB has to go. Let it be AJ, Haywood, Boykins and make room for Blatche, MM and Gil to lead.

Still, Washington's overall defense was sufficiently effective for them to have won the game. But what they require more than anything else is a point-producing low-post player, who will compel opponents to double-team him and therefore generate layups for dive-cutters as well as pressure-free jumpers for the likes of Arenas, Jamison, and Butler.
For now, the Wiz are a ball club that will live, but mostly die, by the jump shot.

Picking at the scab, Rosen's write-up on our loss to the Raps. I would submit that we have the players (Blatche & McGee), but we have yet to take advantage them.

Re: Wizards vs. Raptors GDT (Sponsored by Earl MVP Boykins)
getting to this late, went to the game and was late when I got home.
I was actually not that discouraged considering a OT loss is always
deflating with all the what ifs. Reason was a lot of our EC rivals also
lost. Gil broke back out more or less all the way.
From where I sat, it looked like T'glu just hit a really tough
shot at the end to win it for them whereas Gil couldn't
complete or continue his heroics at the end.
The DET loss leaves me considerably more discouraged.
Are they better than we give them credit for? Or are
we worse. Just a bad matchup right now?

The Raptors had an hour-long team meeting on Friday that came after a recent losing streak hit five games.
Since the meeting, Toronto has won back-to-back games and the club looks much better defensively.
Thanks for nothing
