Lakers bench on fire sale mode

Post#21 » by 24K GOLD » Sun Dec 6, 2009 2:51 pm

Mitch has recently declared the bench open for deals, except Shannon and Lamar.

Who do you think (wish) goes?

I dont understand why he would have to declare this. Did some team want jordan farmar/sasha/morrison and think they we would ask too much for them.

so this is basically nothing new, and has been talked about a million times before this announcement.

I think the other teams in the NBA were well aware of this. I still think that the Lakes are gonna end up trading for Hinrich once the Bulls realize that they're out of play-off contention and/or not good enough to win this year. They're going to set themselves up for the 2010 season.

Link?

I would also comment that most NBA bench players are usually avaliable for trades, so why would the Lakers bench be any different? Hey, at least it gives us something on which to speculate I suppose.

The more I look into a possible Hinrich deal the more it seems to make sense for both sides. A Morrison and Sasha to Chi for Kirk would be a good fit for both teams.

Hinrich does have a left hand injury but it is a sprain not a tear. His numbers this year have not been stellar by any means--8.9 ppg, 4.3 ast and .368 from the floor and .325 from three very poor. His contract is high for a player that comes off the bench for the most part. He gets 9.5 million this year followed by 9 and then 8 million in his final year.

That being said the Bulls are not a contender by any means this year with the likes of Orlando, Boston, Cleveland and Atlanta all miles ahead of them. So, if you get Morrison's expiring deal at 5.2 million and Sasha's 5 million this year and 5.4 next year they will save 4 million next season and essentially 8 million in Hinrich's last year of his deal because Sasha's contract will expire.

The Bulls cap number would be at 32 million next year with their core of Rose, Salmons, Deng, Thomas, Gibson, Noah under contract already. They would then have the flexibility to go out and sign a Bosh, Boozer or who ever maybe.

For the Lakers' it solves issues this year and next. The get a good ball handler/ defender who has an IQ for the game of basketball, who would eventually take over the starting role next season at the point.

Farmar is gonna be gone next season, Fish will resign to smaller contract and head to the bench and help Shannon Brown develop a little more. Shannon having the option to leave next season as well so it be insurance that way as well. So with, Sasha's 5.4 gone next year, Morrison's 5 and farmar's 2 million they don't really add an extra salary. Keeping in mind Fisher will get a new deal as well.

Hinrich, Kobe, Andrew, Pau, Artest......Fish, Brown, Odom, Luke w/ DJ and Josh to reup for small deals next season. Could field this lineup for around 90 million which is what they have this year.
