RE: Mock Draft, Version 3.0
When did the Phile Eagles get the Carolina Panther's 1st rd pick? Last time I checked, that pick belongs to the SF 49ers.
The 49ers traded their 2009, 2nd rd pick to the Panthers (who selected Everette Brown) for their 2010 1st rd pick. However, I can see Mays going to the niners with their second 1st rd pick....they need a safety bad. I'm hoping the media glorification of Mays allows Reed to slip down in the 1st rd.

Re: RE: Mock Draft, Version 3.0
Tenatively fixed, working on a minor overhaul to fix it. Got stuck in the past for some reason
I'm altering the overall draft order and a few picks here and there, should be done by the end of games tomorrow.

Icness, I severely hope you are wrong on the Browns drafting a QB at the #1 spot. Im hoping they go one of three routes (assuming they actually end up with the 1st pick) 1. Suh 2. Berry 3. Trade Down.

Impossible to know what they'll do since nobody knows who will be calling the shots. I have some educated guesses on that but it's still very unclear. If it winds up being who I think it will be as the decision maker, it won't be a QB. If it's the guy most people speculate (Holmgren) it will most certainly be Locker.

Re: RE: Mock Draft, Version 3.0
i think the vikes probably will look for a qb, but for now there isn't a lot we can do on that front
secondary probably should be the focus
Jeff,
have you heard anything about the vikings trading their first rounder or is it a hunch?

Way too early to think about trades. Teams don't even have their boards set yet.
Here's what's happening in regards to the draft in front offices right now...
--scouts are finalizing their reports on players. Re-watching games, slotting the players they've evaluated, talking to cohorts to get second and third opinions. I've had at least 50 calls and emails in the last 3-4 days from NFL scouts asking me about players.
--most scouting staffs will be all together for the next 2-3 weeks going over players, preliminarily coming up with position rankings and overall rankings
--GMs and coaches are spending a little time talking about team needs. GM/personnel people are judging which players currently on the roster need replacing, who they want to keep that will be free agents, stuff like that.
--agents are starting to sign players left and right from non-bowl teams, and the better agents are already putting names in ears that go along with where they think their clients would fit

OK OK.. Who do you think it will be? (The new decision maker, that is)

Taylor Mays? UGHH. Is there anyone else?
I'd rather have Cody if the team loses Franklin.
I don't like Bradford too much, I'd just go with Spiller or Anthony Davis if thats what is left.

He clearly made the Taylor Mays pick for the Eagles, because Mays is not the the ballhawk Safety ala Eric Berry the Niners need badly.

Suh is the best DT prospect in god knows how long.
What were your thoughts on his 5 sack game against Texas Jeff? Have you ever seen anything like that before? Unreal!
His offense didn't have a prayer to score any points all game yet he still almost willed his team to a victory.
I have never seen anything like that before.

I had him atop my draft board already, but that performance seals it. Absolutely incredible, dominant, unbelievable display of power, skill, and determination. It reminded me of Lebron scoring all the Cavs points in the 4th and OT in the Detroit series a couple years ago.
It will be very interesting to see if a QB-needy team gets the #1 pick and what direction they go. Suh is clearly superior to any QB, but that's been true in past drafts and QBs went anyways. Something to file away--Shaun Rogers will not be back in Cleveland (praying for a return to Detroit!), and Brady Quinn will almost certainly still be there.

Re: RE: Mock Draft, Version 3.0
I think you have to draft Suh #1 this year, even if a team needs a QB. He's too dominate to pass up, and as you said Icness, he's so athletic. That play yesterday, when he threw the OL to his right, and grabbed McCoy with one arm was amazing display of power and awareness...just one of many amazing plays by him.
I agree with your Bills pick, the Tackle from OU, but I almost threw up when you said the Bills may try to get Derek Andersen. I wish the Bills were in a position to pick someone like Spiller or Berry at that position, or trade up to get Suh or Cody, but the reality is that the Bills need a QB, OL, and LB. Is there anyone else that the Bill can get at QB via trade or free agency? Maybe Kevin Kolb, or is he penciled in as the QB starter once McNabb leaves?
Looking into the future, what are your thoughts on Nick Foles, QB from Arizona? I haven't seen much of him, except a handful of plays yesterday while flipping to it during the UF v Bama commercials. Is he someone to keep an eye on next year?

The Texans will not spend a 2nd round pick on a WR. That's by far the deepest position. DT and DB are huge needs.

I'm a Bills fan living in Houston.
I agree, DT and DB are a big need. They need to dump Dunta Robinson and get a legit CB.
Anyway you look at it, they need to shore up the Defense.

Hey Ice,
A couple of thoughts.
First, Shaun not back in Cleveland? I know he hasnt been happy, but I havent heard anything concrete about him wanting out. Of course I know Im not as in the loop as you.
Second, if Shaun does indeed want out and Brady is staying in town then why would the Browns draft Locker instead of Suh? Especially since Quinn has actually showed some signs of life over the past couple of weeks, with a terrible offense around him.

Rogers is a marketable asset and he very much wants out.
Suh is the new pick in the next update, finishing it up this afternoon. I happen to think Brady Quinn saved his job the way he played the last three weeks, much more impressive all the time. Still not great, but showing glimpses of what many of us saw in him cmoing out of ND.

I'm alright with Mays at 17 for the niners, I feel that is good value for him. However, I don't like Bradford at all - I'm sticking with Smith at QB, I feel like he's finally turning the corner and I def don't want another QB project.
Jake Locker is reportedly returning to Washington next season...how will that change your draft Ice? Do they still go w/ a QB in their 1st pick or go with the obvious #1 talent - Suh?

Unless it's the Redskins picking #1 (they have Haynesworth), Suh will be the #1 pick. He's worth trading up if the team with the pick isn't sold on him.
FYI if STL, CLE, and TB all wind up with the same record, CLE gets the #1 pick based on strength of schedule. Theirs will be lower, with TB next and then STL. It's weird that none of those teams played one another. Theoretically TB could wind up with a weaker strength of schedule but that would require NO, GB, and NE to all start losing some games...fast. The Rams will wind up playing 4-5 NFC playoff teams (no East teams), plus the Colts and the rest of the AFC South, all of which will wind up with at least 6-7 wins. Cleveland's SOS keeps regressing, thanks to PIT, BAL, and CHI all hitting the skids, plus Detroit (STL's one win) sucking. Right now the Browns have a 6-game lead on TB for opponent's losses and that includes future opponents.
