If you look at the gif, and then your avatar right after its even funnier. Wand is disgusted by their lack of conditioning!

LOL, good eye

The ref's reaction is pretty funny too.

Yeah, Josh Rosenthal is like these two are really out of breath, after basically circling the cage for 15 mins ? :dontknow:

As big a Jon Jones fan as I am, I have to say the DQ is spot on.

When he got up and did the hand flip, I was just thinking "wow they are giving him the win?", started thinking about all the fall out of "the UFC protecting its young up and comers record" or something like that. I was gutted that it was a loss for him, but its only fair.

If the fighter cannot continue after receiving a illegal blow - then its a DQ win for the person receiving the blow.

It does suck for Jon Jones because he was probably only a handful of blows left from winning, I mean Matt was not getting out of that mount, there was over a minute left ... but Jon got to eager, lost his head a bit (I am surprised he didn't know that 12-6 elbows were illegal though). Its a shame, but its kind of like that time Anderson Silva won by the foot to the face in the guard KO, damn impressive, just annoying you can't do it.

The DQ was right, but unfortunate. It does not much matter though because pretty much everyone, including the UFC, will treat Jon Jones like the winner. Did it hurt Rumble's career when he lost on that eye poke? Nope.

DQ was on the money.

It's a horrible stupid rule though.

Yeah I mean Rogan explained the reasoning behind it.

I can imagine the meeting;

"Guys, er, I was dossing around on youtube earlier instead of doing those rules you asked me to do, and I found something freaking awesome ...."

I think it's a good rule. Personally I can't compare how the different elbow strikes feel, but I'm almost certain that it's much easier to severely damage a guy's face with the 12-6 elbow over the sideways elbow. Can you imagine someone with particularly lethal elbows coming directly down with the point of their elbow around or on your eye?

Agreed. The rule is a good one. This was just one of those unfortunate instances where the right decision was made but it sucked anyways.

Jones was robbed....I like Hamil but he was done either way. Mazagatti... nothing good comes out good from him.

I was impressed with Kimbo, hes improved his overall style. He has to work on his conditioning though.

I hate elbows on the ground in general, nothing worse than a stoppage from a cut via short elbow. I wouldn't care if elbows were disallowed altogether.

Its terrible that he gets a loss, yes. But it is the correct call.

I'm glad most agree with the call. I'm a fan of Jones, but that was a big and unfortunate mistake. To reward him with a win for that would send the wrong message.

I think he just lost his patience when his strikes, while brutal looking, were not effectively stopping the fight. Hammil was able to negate most of them, despite not being able to get out of that position. It was only a matter of time before Jones would have gotten him with the right shots.
