OT: Badgers Bowl Game/Other matchups

Post#1 » by trwi7 » Mon Dec 7, 2009 12:09 am

The Outback Bowl took Northwestern over us (good luck getting Northwestern fans down there or anywhere for that matter.)

It probably comes down to the Champs Sports Bowl (again) against the ACC or the Alamo Bowl against the Big 12.

I'd prefer the Alamo Bowl, just because it would be something different. We've been to Florida how many years in a row now?

It's official, Champs Sports Bowl vs. Miami. Should be an interesting game.

Thought I might as well make this a thread for the whole thing.

Oregon vs Ohio State in the Rose Bowl. No shock there.

Boise State vs TCU Fiesta Bowl sucks. I don't want to see the two non BCS schools play eachother.

Pretty disappointing we didn't get into the Outback Bowl. Then again we shouldn't have lost to Northwestern. They shot their self in the foot. And I agree Twirl, I don't want to see two non BCS schools head to head either.

Kind or reminds me of last year when Wisconsin beat Minnesota late in the year. It seems like the Bowls put a lot of weight on late season head to head matchups as an in conference tie breaker.

My Gophs are heading to the Insight Bowl for the 3rd time in 4 years. Playing Iowa State, which the Gophs lead the series 22-2-1, so maybe just maybe we'll be able to squeek out a bowl win for once...

I hope Alabama stomps Texas.

I'll be cheering for Texas just because I hate Nick Saban.

Georgia Tech's offense against Iowa's defense will be awesome.

I really hope Iowa and tOSU show up in their BCS games because the BIGTEN needs to start winning some big bowl games to repair their image.

I was surprised when I heard they chose Northwestern over us. I didn't think they'd have the balls to do it. From a monetary standpoint it just doesn't make sense. Wisconsin has one of the best traveling fan bases in the country. Northwestern is a small private school.

But good luck to them. It's good for them and their program.

I care more about opponent than date of play. Rather play Miami than a 7-5 Auburn team, even though I don't think we matchup that well. I see Tolzien under a lot of pressure all game long.

Surprised we're not playing another SEC team.

Miami should be a good match, haven't seen much of them besides the game they were blown out in.

The whole question about Boise and TCU is how they would fare against the "big boys". And then they get matched up against each other. Unreal. I'd rather face Miami than Auburn but I hate a December 29 game.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Exactly MD. I want to see if we can get another Boise State vs Oklahoma game. That was awesome.

Cincinnati vs Florida is kind of like that. Of course there wasn't really much that is there looking at it again. Alabama and Texas are obviously out. Big Ten Champ vs Pac 10 Champ is out so Ohio State and Oregon are out. That leaves Cincinnati, Florida, Georgia Tech, Iowa, TCU and Boise State.

Maybe Boise State or TCU vs Florida, but other than that, there's not much there.

I agree completely. Real convenient way to jerk both those teams around. I feel especially bad for TCU. It's not their fault that their conference isn't strong. They dominated every single challenge that came their way this year. What more could they do?

TCU actually played a pretty good schedule. They traveled to Clemson and won a good one, and whipped up on both BYU and Utah, in addition to a win over a solid Air Force team. To be truthful their schedule this year is probably comparable to Texas'. Their best win was last night over Nebraska, and they looked awful. Beating Oklahoma this year isn't really impressive, and OK State has been hit-and-miss too. MIssouri, Colorado, Texas A&M, Baylor, Kansas? Meh.

I was pulling for TCU to get into the National Championship, but I at least wanted to see them get a shot at taking down one of the national powers. Oh well...
