Bos/MN trade...

Post#1 » by Danimals » Fri Dec 4, 2009 7:05 pm

Ryan Gomes sf/pf- partially guaranteed contract
Sasha Pavlovic sg/sf- expires this year
Jason Hart pg- unguaranteed this year

for

Brian Scalabrine pf- expires this year
Tony Allen sg- expires this year
J.R. Giddens sg- expires this year
2 future 2nd round picks

Why:
BOS sends out more money than it takes back, thus saving money this year. They can also cut Hart to save more money. They solidify there bench at the 2 and 3 with versatile, complimentary players. If they feel Gomes is over priced on his contract, they don't pick up his option.
Rondo/Daniels/House
Allen/Pavlovic/House
Pierce/Gomes/Walker
Garnett/Davis/Williams
Perkins/Wallace/Williams

MN spends some money this year to move Gomes and free up more cap space next year. They get rid of two players they don't play. They get a look at a young sg, Giddens. Allen and Scalabrine might even be flipped again before the deadline. They get two future picks to add to their pile of assets.

Any takers?

I'd rather get Sessions coming back with Gomes in a deal. Pavlovic would be fine as a third player involved, though, as I think that he would have value for us. I think that we need a backup point guard who can, in some ways, replicate what Rondo brings to the starting lineup playing behind Rajon. Sessions would definitely be aable to do that.

The Wolves are in full out cap clearing mode, so why not get guys from them who could help us? I like the idea of having a guy like Sasha, who can hit a three and play some defense, only if we actually have capable point guards on the floor at all times. Rondo is a stud, but once he comes out, we have no one who can do what he does, and I don't want some scrub vet, I want a guy who can stay here a while, and learn our system inside and out. Ramon is a good player, in my opinion, and his contract is very reasonable. He would give us security at the point, if Rondo needed to take some time off, or went down for an extended period of time.

A deal that brought back gomes, Sessions and Pavlovic, sending out our expirings, would allow us to focus on the future.

Yeah I can pretty much assure you that if this deal is offered to Danny Ainge he would take it.

So, the idea is that Minnesota has no intention of even considering keeping Gomes;

So they would cash him in and lose the chance to save money by cutting Hart, in order to get 2 2nd round picks and some lesser expiring contracts?

Hmm, I guess that's a little bit plausible at least.

Any deal that brings Gomes home is good in by book.

We need an official trade thread like the other boards so that there won't be so much threads like this.

I would have ZERO interest in having Pavlovic in our rotation. Frankly, as much as I hate Tony Allen, I'd prefer him to Pavlovic.

This isn't a good deal for the Wolves, they are giving up the best player by far. Why would they trade gomes for expirings without any real incentive when he's essentially an expiring himself? I'd imagine the wolves would want the celtics 1st in this deal, not two 2nds.

Yea, I do not imagine the wolves considering this deal.

Doesnt make sense for Minnesota. Gomes is on a very affordable contract for his skill level...averages 4.4million the next two seasons and both are not guaranteed.
