Re: Kareem encouraged by Bynum's progress
I would like to see him pick it up on defense a little more & go for more blocks but other than that I have to agree with the captain.

Can't disagree with anything Cap said. Andrew's having a really nice season, with lots of room for improvement -- which is exciting.

Be good in playoffs for the first time ever?
How passive aggressive is that, man? He was coming off freak injuries two years in a row.

Yes. Drew is doing better. Kareem has shown him a lot. Glad Kareem is still with the Lakers. Not sure if Drew is an all star just yet. Missed alot of time the last 2 years. Add those games and he would be that much better.

Re: Kareem encouraged by Bynum's progress
bynum is definitely an all-star when compared to other centers in the west. he's clearly the top center in the west in the absence of yao.

OTHER THAN yAO mING BEATING aNDREW IN 3's by 100%, evrything is pretty even, so by next season, Andrew should officialy be the best center in the West, since people are saying Yao Ming is still better

Re: Kareem encouraged by Bynum's progress
There were stretches where Andrew would get 4 to 5 blocks in a game, love to see that happen on a regular basis, he seems to be tentative this year in going for blocks, there are times he stands around to much on defense while guys are getting layups, that's my only real complaint. If we had a guy swatting shots inside consitantly, we'd be unbeatable.

Re: Kareem encouraged by Bynum's progress
Kareem did a good job with andrew... now andrew needs to repay him by becoming a allstar this year. That would be the a big payback.

lol nah I was just playing but I'm happy to know that him and Kareem appear to be on good terms with each other. A lot of people thought that Bynum was being immature when he wasn't going to work with Kareem anymore but that might have all been due to Kareem's sickness.

Re: Kareem encouraged by Bynum's progress
^ LOL you almost had me. Yeah a lot of people bashed him for that & now it's pretty obvious the Lakers were trying to blow some cover smoke before Kareem made his illness public. Also MagicContiues posted a link of Kareem working with Bynum just before 1 of the games earlier this week or late last week.

Take this with a grain of salt. But David Robinson played for, what, 15 years and he never learned to shoot with his off hand. Drew's already done that and he's barely legal to drink alcohol. If he can make the same kind of improvement protecting the basket...wow, I almost don't even want to get my hopes.

Re: Kareem encouraged by Bynum's progress
TOTALLY AGREE.
this guys improvement in his game is HUGE!
several areas, but heres just one. he is developing this hook shot, now its not up to the form and greatness of kareems, but bynum has this fake one way, spin the other way, and hook shot. and heres the exciting part, he is going with that shot with more and more frequency that he is actually MEASURING AND MEMORIZING the strength needed at varying ranges.
kareem used to memorize by heart, and know the depth and how far he was from a basket at any time and gave the appropriate "touch" on his hook shot. if he was waaaay out there, he would adjust and shoot a hook shot almost from the corner. if kareem was close in, he would adjust and have the touch to make the shot.
bynum is "starting" to make that similar adjustment in TOUCH. hes starting to shoot his hook with so much frequency, he can tell and make the adjustment with more or less strength. more or less touch. more or less power.
now when bynum gets to that HIGH level of consistency as cap had, where he can know and see where he is at on the floor and make the adjustment in touch and strength of shot . . . WATCH OUT!!
because with his heigth and long arms, it will be as they used to call kareems shot, UNBLOCKABLE-UNGUARDABLE-UNSTOPPABLE.

That's right Sedale. If he grows into a very decent basket protector i.e. shot blocker, proper switching, & more hustle!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man i'm with you. I don't even want to think about it!
