Could be.

But I'm only counting on seeing one of those fights, if that.

I'd say, Fedor vs. Werdum and Hendo vs. Mousasi/Shields. I think Hendo should fight at 205, because that division needs the depth, and there isn't one fighter they have at MW that I would give even a 25% chance of beating Hendo. Certainly not Shields. Maybe I'm forgetting someone?

They should start him off at MW, let him win a couple (Shields and whomever), get the belt and then build up the fight everyone wants against Mousasi.

I would have him fight Mousasi right away. Because no matter what happens, both will come out okay. But, if they back burner that fight and Hendo loses once or twice, it won't be a mega-fight. With Hendo being 40, the time for big fights is now.

Typical Dana. Could the guy not have just wished Henderson good luck and just moved on? He's always on the defensive

He's just being a typical promoter.

It may rub some of us the wrong way sometimes, but is there anything he said in that article that isn't true?

- Hendo's been a FA for a while, and openly said he wanted to return to the UFC, but the UFC never went above what they thought he was worth
- Hendo's not a huge PPV, TV or live gate draw (though he's probably top 3 in SF now)
- Strikeforce is signing a ton of fighters, but still isn't having many events, which could lead to problems in the future (this is the only one I may disagree with, as a lot of those fighters are free to fight in Dream/elsewhere as well)
- Strikeforce signing Hendo doesn't mean they are ready to battle the UFC

- Hendo brings "nothing" to the table?
- Hendo will actually hurt strikeforce?
- Their business model is **** because they are doing the same thing the UFC did for years?

Also,

White virtually closed the door on a potential return in the future, saying Henderson's age (39) would probably work against that.

if Hendo goes 4-0 in strikeforce and still wants to fight. You can bet 100% Dana will try to resign him.

How is Strikeforce doing the same thing the UFC did for years? Their business model could not be more different.

The UFC had huge operating costs too, that probably resulted in years of financial losses, and overpaid for fighters at times as well.

Yeah, this is true. But being on PPV minimized that a lot. Strikeforce will need to get to PPV to ever make any money if they keep signing these big money guys.

It could work both ways, but thing is SF would be smart to capitalize on Hendo's name more so right now than feature him in the premium fight.

If Hendo were to fight Mousasi and lose then it takes away all the momentum of his signing.

If he's committed to the 205 division I'd like to see him fight King Mo first or something. At least one fight before Mousasi....

Also keep in mind Mousasi can only fight on cards with Fedor on them as well (per his M1 contract stipulations). So it basically knocks off 2 of the biggest fights the promotion can put together on the same card at once. If I were them I'd try to build both Hendo and Mousasi a bit more and then have that feature on a PPV card (since they were talking about starting it) and have Fedor fight for the belt... be it with AO or not.

I think Scott Coker mentioned that Dan wants both the middleweight and light heavyweight belt. I would guess he fights Shields before Mousasi if that's the case.

:jawdrop: Hendo would destroy Shields.

Shields already challenged Hendo.

I have Hendo winning in the 1st round via murder.

I think all of us would agree there.

Shields is much better than most of you guys give him credit for. I think Hendo beats him, but Shields is no walk in the park for anyone.

Just for that Cammo, I hope Shields gets doubly murdered.

I'm not under rating Shields at all, He has the better submission game, Dan is by far a more superior wrestler, Dan has more KO power.

I agree that Dan is a tough matchup for him, it just seems like Shields takes a lot of undue criticism on this board. It was not so long ago everyone on here thought Lawler was going to mangle him.

Well respects for Shields for taking the match with Dan.

One thing you can say about him is he never backs down from a fight.

Shields was just a filler champ, bridging the gap between Le and Hendo. Jake would probably move back down to WW.
