Nice quote on Brand

Post#1 » by PerkinsFor3 » Wed Dec 2, 2009 10:50 pm

We first started playing some 1-1 with the bigs - no doubt a tough way to start the day, considering my competition. I was in a group with Maurice Speights, Cory Underwood and Elton Brand. I must say I was a little star struck. That usually doesn’t happen to me, but Elton Brand was a hero of mine since his days dominating Cameron Indoor. (I must add that on top of being one of the best players in the NBA, Elton Brand is one of the most professional guys in the game. I was an unheard, unsigned free agent who should have been treated like a nobody. Elton, a two-time NBA All Star, took the time to make me feel welcome and offered me some advice on my game. I don’t think it’s fair how the media has been coming down on him. All things considered, it’s not his fault the organization didn’t change their style of play to better suit his game.)

Brand and his Agent "Falked" the Clippers really good. Brand may be all that, but ask Baron & Maggette if keeps his word?

No offense loot, but I don't think anyone here gives a damn about Mr. Brand. I'd say more, but I don't want mk or lof banning me. :)

As I said, don't take offense to that. You're just in the minority group since you should know the events of him leaving the team and our mindset of the entire thing. Most of us can not forgive him for the way he treated the franchise with his departure.

Going off of what Fishy said, I couldn't give a damn about Brand. I thought he fell off a cliff and died awhile ago. He's dead to me, anyway. I'm a woman AND a sports fan...trust me...I can hold a mean grudge.

While I don't want to wish anyone ill, it certainly seemed like rather neat basketball karma when Brand shafted this organization and Baron and us in his dishonest and deceptive manner of leaving, and since then might as well have fallen off a cliff (as JJ so elegantly suggests.)
It's good that he seems to have treated this fellow who was quoted, with kindness. But at the very least, he has two faces, and has proved himself capable of lies and betrayals on a grand scale.

Well of course. He's helping them get into the lottery to build a better younger core for the future. :)

Elton seems like a nice guy almost too nice maybe thats why he has had only one season in the playoffs. I was soooo wrong bout brand clipper fans should feel lucky without him now.

yup sixers always end up with the players past there prime. If it wasnt the great years with Iverson we would be the clippers of the east.

It's all business guys, I'm sure Elton's a classact. You gotta remember the good times, and where he took this team. I think for Elton, he wanted to win a championship and you aren't going to do that with the Warriors. And with this current group? Eh. Can't predict injuries, but Baron's never been that great a PG. Like Andre Miller, Baron strikes me as a guard that can't play the pick and pop game.

It's not that Brand "fell off" the face of the earth, Eddie Jordan is just a very miserable head coach.

In 30 minutes, Brand gave us 13-11-2 BLKS. I mean, I'll take that from my PF. That's what he signed him for, to give us pts, rebounds, blks.

We're still a young team with loads of talent. But it shows how we under-estimated what kind of work our previous coaches put into defense. Eddie Jordan has single handedly turned us into the New York Knicks.

But I compare it more to the San Antonio Spurs situation. Lose Robinson for a year(well, we didn't lose anyone for a year but clearly this situation is horrid) get a top pick, win titles.

What good times exactly? You mean how he helped lead this team to constant lottery drafts until Sam Cassell brought the leadership he lacked? Mr. Brand couldn't do squat with Miller when he was with the team, nor could he did squat when Livingston, who was quite a decent option, was healthy.

This is why the majority here loves Sam and gives him a lot more credit than anyone else on that team that year.

Sam Cassel + Brand = perfect pick & roll combo. They had a good thing. It's not just Cassel, Brand never had a good pick & roll pg before. Dooling came closet. Says something. Not saying he's a leader.
